hellier0437
i am waiting for my fac to come through soon and so am starting to think about possible first rifles. i had my heart set on a ruger 10/22 until i heard bad reports about range and accuracy. is this realy true, for example how does it compare with a cz bolt action? thanks for any help
fusion
I've been using a Rugar 10/22 for years with no probs. Cheap to purchase with loads of mods available .22 bolt if your target shooting and semi for rabbits etc . Semi auto is GREAT fun but burns ammo. (Good job it's cheap). Cheers. hellier0437
thanks for the reply, at what range are you confident at taking rabbits with the 10/
Hunter
Nooooo not a semi Get a nice CZ bolt action, it will give you more range, it will be more reliable, and far easier to clean and maintain. Semi for fun, Bolt for serious hunting. Axe
What did you apply for. If I remember correctly, the grant application forms ask you to stipulate the action type. Out of choice I would go for a Bolt Action.
kip270
Axe, you just ask for the calibre, not the action type, you only put action type on renewal if you have that rifle in that calibre. You can only get a semi auto in .22rim anyhow, no other calibre
Axe
Just checked the forms that Sussex use Kip, your right. It doesnt state action on guns you wish to purchase.
Lurch
Semi for fun, Bolt for serious hunting. Absolutely. I've a 10-22 and a CZ, the Ruger gets prissy after about 50 shots due to the crud that .22lr spits out and needs a good clean out. You'll find the 10-22s are a bit noiser too. Go for the boltie, you won't regret it.
arjimlad
I have a CZ style bolt action which I like very much indeed. I would not sell it to buy a semi auto .22 under any circumstances. Happy shooting !
OldBill
I've got my Annie 525 semi, zeroed at 75m using subs. I've taken prey at 110m but had to "walk" the rounds in (still a clean kill though) but 110m was too far with subs.
