my 10/22 didnt seem to like subs, used to jam/missfeed constantly, tried cci mini mags and had no probs.....other than the extra noise so a bit pointless !!

stripped it right down and polished all the 'moving bits' inside (getting a bit techy there wasnt i  ) and stripped/cleaned the mags as they had got pretty grotty inside, and then snipped 3 coils off the recoil spring and fitted a nylon buffer,

while it was in bits a hacked the stock about a bit, i only started floating the barrel and got carried away :whistling:

still, its a bit lighter now if nothing else!!

result of my fiddling ? - no jams out of about 100 subs so far...................... i only might have fixed something :good:

I have both bolt and semi. Both have there places.

I did buy the semi for NV but its now just used the same as the bolt as both are good.

Use a clean sub round and it will be fine. I have been using CCI or lapua as their not waxy but I have now eleys new semi auto ammo to try.

I use eley in the bolt action. Never had issues with the bolt and night vision other than empty cases getting caught up in it

let us know how you get on with the new eley auto ammo as ive not found anyone who has it in stock.i use eley subs in mine but always give them a wipe to remove the wax as it builds up in the magazine and caused jams..doesn't jam at all with the waxed removed....pain in the bum I know but they shoot really well so worth the effort

Down side of factory semis is accuracy. I used extensively a custom converted 10/22 in the late 80s, had to have a factory carbine re tubed to get it to a satisfactory level of accuracy, then it was hell of a tool, in the days when I had rabbits I was killing 100 - 150 a night with it. The other side is build up of grease in the chamber, you must use ammo which is grease free pretty well, I used to use Eley 36gr SSHPs. These days I use CCI 40 gr SSHPs. Ammo such as Winchester would stop my 10/22 in under 30 rounds and require a full strip and clean.

Bolt rifles are far less ammo fussy and more accurate out of the box. A CZ with a sorted trigger is a fine tool.
