malantone
Would like some opinions on an incident which happened the other day, we have foresters working in the wood (they`ve been there all season) the other day for the second time a tree has landed on our main pen fence, the first time we repaired the fence as poults were expected the next day, after the second the guy apologised but some guns think he should pay for repairs. What do you think?
Scully
I would have thought he would have to be insured in his line of work. If he is liable then it stands to reason you should not be out of pocket in my opinion.
cpaulc
Agreed with above, unless its one of the land owners mates just doing his best with a chainsaw.
scotslad
I have done a lot of forestry work in the past and sometimes these things happen, a lot would depend on the type of job he was doing and tree type etc. Strictly speaking he is laible but how much does it really cost to replace a post or re steeple up some wire? Is it worth upseting the forester/estate over a 10min -hour patch up job Prob better to let him know ur not overly happy and get him to do u some favours to make up for it. Do u want a flushing point brashed or a tree felled to get more light in If u make a big deal out of it itcould work against u in the long run. (Think i'd be more ****** off with them working in the woods throughout the season)
Jack9494
As its not the first time just have a word with the man incharge and tell him he needs to be more careful and if it happens again they should pay for it.
CharlieT
I'm afraid it happens. We get contractors rolling round bales through fences and forestry workers doing just what you've had happen. As Scotslad says, a couple of posts and a few staples cost nothing. Accidents happen. al4x
The other thing to bear in mind is if this is rented ground then conflicts between the forestry operation and the shooting are unlikely to end well for your lease as you will be the one to go first.
