hyflier
Where he came by it, I have no idea but this young gentleman has offered me a GAT air rifle, I'd never heard of these....... The Gat gun, of course..... almost everyone had one of those I've done a little research and as you would expect they were fairly terrible, and you probably couldn't hit a barn if you sat inside it, but ya know? I'm going to have it, even if only for the novelty value.
Les*1066
Good for you! Is it one of these? Edited April 25, 2015 by Les*1066
Underdog
Lol, I remember seeing one as a kid. Turn of the last century there was a few designs around that. I have often wondered why no one has not made a pump up around a simple in and out job from the muzzle end! Let us know how it shoots please. U. hyflier
I think so Les*, I'll pick it up on Tuesday morning. Yes of course U, I can't wait to be bitterly disappointed Edited April 25, 2015 by hyflier
hyflier
It shoots quite poorly, it's a smooth bore air gun (I'm not going to call it a rifle) I managed a 4 inch group at 10 yards. It could be pellet choice, should I be trying JSB exacts or perhaps Bisley magnum? Despite the flaws (and it really is quite awful) I like it, it's a fun lump of awful and i want to get some corks to try fly swatting later in the year. I don't suppose the wife will be too impressed but I don't like Eastenders Edited April 29, 2015 by hyflier
Underdog
Should thing long pellets be best. Darts! Don't get too close to flies on the windows !!
archiebald
Like it! - Does the end push in like the pistol version?
hyflier
Yes Archiebald, it does and for a poxy inaccurate little air gun, it's quite fast. I don't have the motivation to chronograph it...................... well not today anyway Underdog; darts yes I've got to find some darts, they've got to be really cr*p when they're fired from it Edited April 29, 2015 by hyflier
Underdog
Nooo, darts are good. Is it run in? Keep it well oiled. Hey, round ball pellets!

hyflier
Underdog.................."run in?" It's *****d!!! wot are round ball pellets? I have some daisy BB but they've missed the target completely. Oil drizzles from the barrel after a few shots and it doesn't even ignite Edited April 29, 2015 by hyflier
saddler
Where does the lamp fit? Or is the version with a night vision bracket attached? Any lamping trips in the near future?
hyflier
Unfortunately there appears to be no rails to attach lamping or night vision equipment to this air gun. Nor a scope or even a half decent set of open sights Edited April 29, 2015 by hyflier
Underdog
Lol. Gamo and others do round bal in .177! Get an ox spring fitted. Do they do an FAC version?
hyflier
I'd love to take this air gun apart just to see how it works, but can't see how to dismantle it. I suspect it's not possible and the thought of an FAC gat gun is captivating. I can only imagine the look on my FEO's face
bruno22rf
It actually works like any springer from memory-the bit that pops out has a washer at the rear that compresses the air in front of it as it flies forwards-this is forced into a hole between the loading plug and the rear of the projectile. hyflier
I think they're rare now Mark, and have a value too Who would have thought that these cumbersome, next to useless little air guns, would be sought after one day? evo
crickey that brought back memories of when I was a lad,, my father bought me a gat pistol when I was around 7 years of age,,all I remember about it was having to use my full body weight to push the barrel in to cock it then undoing the screw on the rear and putting a pellet in,,cant remember if I ever hit anything with it but I loved it lol looked the same as this
