WinchesterDave
Well the other day went to Kelbrook and decided to hire a gun instead of using mine as my thoughts were I can use mine whenever. Anyway, went in and asked for a Browning B725 to be told it's just been taken but they have a B525 (30" 2015 model) .... well all I can say is from the moment I picked it up I loved it!! I think it's the best I've ever shot too. So got me and dad thinking, we are now looking at getting a new B525 30 or 32" sporter or a second hand B725. Now of it was you, which would you go for? I know I shot well with the B525 and I held a 32" yesterday at McAvoys (awesome service and help) and that felt fine. However I've not shot a B725, only held one and it felt nice undoubtedly. My question, would you buy a new B525 or a second hand B725? In terms of resale which would have the strongest residual value? I think my heart is set on a B525 but that may be because I've shot it. I plan on going to malmo and try both back to back in a week or two and hopefully be coming home with one. I can't wait Atb WD
Scully
Have just been in Malmos today; they have a few of both in. I'm not a fan of the 725 in all honesty due to the 'raked' forward fore end and new style of chequering, but that's just a personal view, absolutely nothing wrong with the gun. There was a very nice grade 5 325 in there also and at a steal a very nice Miroku 7000 grade 3 in very very good condition for less than 900 quid. Plenty to look at. Have fun browsing. WinchesterDave
Cheers scully, probably be the weekend after next due to my dad's commitments with other things - going to drag I know what you mean about the forened though on the 725. Thanks for the reply Dave
grrclark
The 725 is really quite different to the 525, the action on the 725 is much lower in profile so looks and feels different to the 525. Either would be a very good purchase and as a percentage of purchase price the residuals will likely be very similar. Definitely try the 725 before you decide anything. WinchesterDave
Cheers for that advice pal, we are going to try them both and decide I have a feeling it is going to be a tricky desicion
grrclark
It may well be tricky, but it is a nice problem to have Whatever choice you make you are going to have a brilliant gun.

Danger-Mouse
Are you going to get your name changed to BrowningDave then? I`ve had a few shots with both guns and preferred the 725 but they`re both quality guns.

Yes it's not a bad problem to have lol, thanks pal I wish I was going tomorrow haha Best decision - go to Malmo and get sorted. That's the plan really was just looking for opinions and pw advice Are you going to get your name changed to BrowningDave then? I`ve had a few shots with both guns and preferred the 725 but they`re both quality guns. Haha I had thought about it lol but I'd still have a 2:1 win/browning ratio so it'll stay as Winchesterdave me thinks lol How come you prefered the 725 may I ask? WinchesterDave
What's pros/cons between a 30" and 32" also please- or is it simply personal Preference
Danger-Mouse
How come you prefered the 725 may I ask? No incredibly technical reason, it just felt better. Probably a better fit. But I`m only talking about a few shots with each so don`t read too much into my opinion. If you want that then don`t bother with either, get yourself a nice Miroku MK38 instead
WinchesterDave
Fair enough mate thank you for the opinion Interestingly I did hold a nice 30" Mk38 yesterday and that did feel okay but the mk70 didn't -much lower in the comb
ChrisAsh
Dont worry about resale value, I bet you didnt when you brought your last car. Just enjoy and hope to be so happy you will keep it for years

bill425g6
I've a Browning sporter 425g6,Multi,30",ST. I bought it 6mths second-hand after it came out and its never let me down. As for the length of barrels I don't shoot clays only game and vermin and I like the swing of the 30" maybe you need longer for clays I don't know. As for the 525/725 I've shot both guns and I think the 725 shoots better. As for looks, as above I don't like the chequering and definitely don't like the fore end. Whatever fits you or shoots better I would go for that one or if you can live with the looks of the 725 that would be the one for me. WinchesterDave
Bill, thank you for that reply, very helpful 👍 I'm keeping an open mind to them both and hopefully I can try 30 and 32" guns to make an informative decision
cromwell7
I'm a fan of the 525 good value gun imo I don't know how much better the new Invector ds chokes are they have a copper band apparently which expands to form a better seal. Don't dis regard the CG guns I've seen a few on here lately and I'm starting to wish I'd tried one!
WinchesterDave
Yes you do seem to get a lot of gun for the money, the one I had a look at in Mcavoys was £1125, bought new last November I thought it was an extremely good price for it. Scully
Any opinions between 30 and 32 inch ? Dave Personally I prefer 28".
Danger-Mouse
Any opinions between 30 and 32 inch ? Dave I jumped from 26" barrels to 32" barrels so the difference in handling was quite significant. The 32" gun swings very nicely and has helped me improve my accuracy on crossing birds. It`s also a very heavy gun so it soaks up recoil. With the shorter barrels I much preferred to use 21gm or 24gm cartridges now I use 27gm Velocities for most of my shooting and 28gm Hull Comp X 9s for skeet. It`s taken me a while to get used to the long barrels but I do like them and my shooting has improved. I dare say there isn`t that much difference between the 30" and the 32", certainly not ballistically. Obviously there will be a sleight weight difference. Try both and see how they feel is the best advice. I would go 32" but that`s just my opinion and what suits me might not suit you quite so well. WinchesterDave
Cheers DM makes sense, I did like the feel of the 32 b525 it wasn't barrel heavy whatsoever! In fact the guy got his rule to measure just to be sure it was a 32" lol.
