Well I had 37 and 34 on standing wheat last week but only managed to pick 10 and 22 so unless you've bought yourself a dog I'd go with the rape. Losing birds in the crop is annoying, especially when you get a nice pair and lose both :shoot:

Farmer wanted them moved on so it had to be done.

Hi Sitsinhedges, no dog yet but I am lucky in that there is a very wide strip of headland bordering the field and a meadow over the hedge, and if I choose my shots very carefully I can pick them up. Checked last night but wind wrong direction to achieve this so will wait until it turns. Anyone else finding plenty of horse fly's taking an interest in your exposed parts as three had me last night in the space of 20mins, forgot to take my Avon oh so soft!!

I've got a couple of very good pickers up, would be happy to bring one out and have a sit and chat in the hide with you for an hour or three some day if you fancy it :) You can't be all that far from me.

I would have been very grateful to share my hide with you and your dogs last week. I hate leaving birds in the crop.

I'll PM you my number mate. Happy to come along any time I can, just with a dog to enjoy being outdoors and save feeding old charlie any more than necessary ;)
