proud dad
Is there a saving to be made reloading 12 bore 28g 7.5s or would I be better just buying them from the clay ground/local shop? I was thinking of buying a Lee Loadall 2.
Guest cookoff013
No saving.
fenboy
Perhaps if you made your own shot , but even then not enough to warrant the hassle.
proud dad
Ok, thanks for that. I do use the odd game and pigeon cartridge but probably not enough to justify reloading.
roughshooter
There is a bloke in Doncaster that sells reclaimed shot for £1.50 a KG. If you bulk buy your wads and powder then you could make a decent saving
pestcontrol1
£1.30 per kg when i got some not that long ago
Uncle Albert
Little or no saving on clay carts but it's a very absorbing hobby. The main saving is when you progress to pigeon carts, game carts and wildfowling carts. It's very satisfying to see the clay smoked with something you have loaded yourself though. Another benefit is the fact that you don't develop square eyes with looking at that damn box in the corner.

pestcontrol1
the last lot of shot i got was fairly good it runs throw the mec fine and brakes the clays just like any other shot all that i do is run it over a magnet incase there is the odd bit of steel left in it but out off well over 100 kg not had much steel
sitsinhedges
What's the quality of the shot or does it need re-smelting? I bought some and it wasn't at all bad considering but it was very dusty and lead dust is very poisonous. I decided to remelt it to get clean shot but the ingot it made was the worst I have ever tried to drip shot with and I had to put a load of linotype into the mix to get it to make half decent shot. I'll make my own in future but can see the attraction for affordable clay bashing reloads.
