shootgun
Gave stalking a break for a few weeks in preparation for the roe rut, so went out Saturday with big expectations but for my surprise no sign of any rutting activity in Surrey. Plenty of does with kids on the ground but no bucks in attendance, however, managed to take a young one out, to stick with the cull plan... Looking forward to next Saturday, hopefully the rut will kick off.

I guess as much, do you have any photos of this as these folk born here don't do it and some of these traditions might be a worthy import to these shores. Unfortunately i don't , i thought to keep it private, as i'm from the continent and i don't want to look weird to someone... but i will do in the future. Last meal and a little oak branch dipped in the game's blood, and pinned on the hat next to the gamsbart, is something i've grew up with and done ever since i shot my first wild boar at the age of 12. In my tradition is a sign of respect to the quarry.
