hedge hunter
They seem a great pice of kit. Only trouble I got is there are so many models available I'm a bit lost so to speak. Would 60 lumens be ok for instance. What is that in the real world ?? Cheers hh
Penelope
Pick the brightest you can afford. They seem a great pice of kit. kent
Be aware use of lights can create friction with other fowlers Sometimes it's valid sometimes it's not but best not to use one whenever it can be avoided. Very useful for letting others know your location and saving them a long walk yet can alert fowl on the roost etc
hedge hunter
Hi Kent, yes I take this advise on board. I was just thinking for early morning and late evening getting on and off the Marsh safely. I see what you mean about maybe upsetting other fowlers, but personally I'd rather know I had the option to use a light if need be. And think I would just feel more secure knowing I had a light source to hand if push come to shove! !
m greeny
That headlight will be spot on. i carry a headlight myself but have only used it once and that was to flash it at a fellow fowler who was walking towards my hidey hole but he just kept walking so when he had crossed the last gulley and was still coming towards me i give him a few more flashes and he come right to me all out of breath so i popped up and he said oh i never saw you!!!!!!!! I think his eyes were painted on
panoma1
Depending on the use of a light pre dawn will rob you temporarily of your night vision, on an unfamiliar area of marsh a low powered lamp used sparingly and pointed at the ground close to you feet is ok.....flashing light beams around like at lighthouse will cause friction with other fowlers and may alert your quarry! As someone already posted a quick flash will make late fowlers avoid you position......like the plague I imagine?........ well at least you'd hope so! wildfowl jon
I use this model on the Marsh, its lasted a good few seasons despite numerous soakings and internal rust ups. Prety econonical on the batteries too. Not the brightest but enough to keep you on your feet and out of bother.
hedge hunter
Cheers wildfowl Jon, that's all I needed to know. Obviously I do not want a million candle power lamping spotlight, but just didn't know if 60 lumens was sufficient enough out put, regards hh

muncher
Must be honest I hate them and they should only be used for emergency and to let other fowlers know your position.
Reabrook
Must be honest I hate them and they should only be used for emergency and to let other fowlers know your position. My attitude to them exactly. I still wouldn't be without one in my bag though.
