also started to put the door cards on, but as ever they needed some cutting and trimming to get them to fit, first off i didnt realise that the top section didnt screw to the the door but a grove in the top popped over the top of the door, and that id have to put the arm rest but on first as a bit of that went up behind the top bit, and that the hole for the window latch was to small at the bottom edge, and that where the top door bolts are also needed making bigger, a lot of faffing about but got there in the end, tried taking a photo of the finished project but due to poor light it was far to dark, even with the flash on, then i decided to take the bottom bit off for the time being as i just know they will be full of foot prints whilst were putting the hardura in,

instructions say to glue it down, it has its own sound proofing too, i may be able to get away with just trimming a bit of the existing sound proofing to get the hardura to where it needs to be, like touching the bulkhead and the seat base, as the main bit thats not a good fit is the bit that goes over the gearbox tunnel,

Just found this thread a couple of days ago and read the lot 😂

Great work from Viking and it's great to see the community spirit from everyone chipping in advice and parts!

Extra interest for me as I'm just starting to put together my series 3 soft top I stripped down last year, chassis waiting to be picked up from the painters and got a set of parabolic springs waiting to go on the axles.

It won't be up to this standard, more all new parts for the mechanicals but leave things looking a bit worn and aged to keep the history.

I shouldn't hijack Vikings thread but here are a few more pics because he has finished his now. A few rusty chassis shots and my mums loft full of mail order parts and some of the refurbed stuff. Her garage and green house are also chock full of landy remains oh and the side of the garage is stacked out with scrap. The chassis was quite rusty there were loads of patches on it around the rear that used thin steel to plate over the rust. All the out riggers were bad, the rear section was bad and the dumb irons were bad with really bad welding on the old fix. The best bit was where the engine has leaked oil all over the place but the inside of the box section was still really bad, so new chassis it was.

is it a 110??

or 109?

It's the same as yours an 88 and don't any of you wind up merchants starting with the "it looks a bit long for an 88" lol. Although my bum did go because the invoice doesn't state left or right hand drive and I was sure I had ordered right hand but.....it came right hand thank ****!

I knew the chassis was bad when I got it but what I didn't know was I had bought a pattern so I knew what new parts to order. I will find a pic of it before the great strip. It looks really good because the guy I bought it off had spent a few bob getting it sprayed. TBH he would have been better off spending his cash on say oil for the gear box or any other maintenance items really.
