i had know idea how long it would take but iv seen its a lot of messing about making sure its right, like he said to me its not a mend and make do its a restoration, so it needs to be rite, and will still cost a quarter of what it would of done if id of taken it to a garage or a full time welder. or i could of got a new galvi one for £1100

all good things come to those who wait :good::good::good:

well iv been putting the engine off for some time now, every time iv looked at it iv just though "god"

but now its come to the next job on my list so had to make a start on it today after work, just took a few things off to clean up and paint whilst im waiting for my mate to have a look at the engine, think ill take the head off tomorrow if i can work out how, he did show me at the weekend but trying to dismantle an engine seems a tad daunting to me, but then again so has everything iv done so far :good::good:

hi gordon, no i believe not,we/my dad has had one at his garage for 40 years and always had it on when it was cold, we were forever getting to to "shut that door"some times i thought he was larry grayson  when we were younger and used to go up to his garage, only vents he had was what escaped under the door, its the first time iv smelt one going in years and that combined with oil diesel and petrol brought back childhood memories, a like the other day when i was using some filler, love that smell :good:

10 mins and my double garage was piping hot and it was -1 outside

Lee - ironic seeing your photo of the space heater. I was looking at one over the weekend and looking on line for the very item.

Not decided how big. Do you need ventilation when using one?

Give me a nudge in a couple of weeks, I have / had one of those, probably wants a service to make it run right, beer tokens would make it yours!

so i had a spare hour and half after work so i took to the garage with a brew and decided to clean some metal, not as easy as ditchman makes it look, im sure hes passing new off as cleaned old  its quite enjoyable and ditchman has also got me a bit OCD with it all,

its obviously not finished yet and there are some tight spots to get in yet as the 2 wire wheels iv got wont get in there, iv just ordered a 4" wheel for the grinder and one for the drill they seem like there not as compact as the small ones iv got so they may get in the bits im stuck on, or if anyone has any suggestions if what bits i might need for the tight fiddly bits please let me know. :good:

ill give that ago tomorrow then, still dont see how im going to get in to all the nooks and crannies :hmm:

there is a smaller brush than you have.......and if you mount the drill in the vice you will be able to put more pressure on it to get into those small spaces ...

if you still have a problem....clean as much muck off as you can...dry it ...then spray and leave it for 20mins with mr muscle oven cleaner...it will clean it but turn it grey...then clean it and dry.... then polish it up with the steel brushes...wash off with petrol and dry and spray with wd40............
