Underdog
Shots tend to be few and far between when wildfowling , I cannot see why anyone would want to handicap themselves with a single , the recoil would be savage too with HP steel loads . Man up lol. I get the odd opportunity in autumn but don't have a steel proof gun.

Redditch
What has the length of the barrel got to do with 'reaching' geese? Pointability

fenboy
Pointability Surely pointability and reach are two different things
RossEM
I've shot a lot of good long range greylags with a 24" barrelled Hatsan Escort - Barrel length has nothing to do with lethality!
motty
Hi Motty, with the silver pigeon, was that with 3", what chokes did you have in , I have been shooting steel 6 through the Beretta all summer on pigeon with 1/4 and 1/2 chokes in, its just moving up to heavier loads and particularly in the 3" makes me a little nervous. but as a temporary fix while I find a decent 'goose ' gun it makes sense. I have used 36gm steel 1s and also hevi shot through the silver pigeon. It is indeed chambered for 3" shells. Half and three quarter is a decent combination. I have shot Canadas, pinks and greys with it.

Thanks Motty, thats made me feel a lot easier, Im out tomorrow on the marsh so I will be a lot more confident with the Beretta, Ive only got some 2-3/4" 32 gm 3's at the moment, I will have to get out tomorrow sometime and pick up some 3" in 1's with a decent load, her indoors wont be too pleased spending money 'AGAIN', better try and hit something for the oven or else.
