TIDES EDGE
I purchased a very nice second hand AYA No 2 some months back ,yesterday I at last got to try it on some pigeons it shot like a dream ,but I was shocked to find that the saftey catch does not come on automaticaly when you open it. It has been many years since I last owned a side by side and I thought they were all automatic saftey can it be altered to be . I have had all my Bereta o/u done but unsure about AYA. wymberley
Might pay to have it looked at. At a guess, the previous owner might have had it altered or there's a fault as I'm reasonably sure they are all automatic.
chasechicken
I have an old AyA O/U which doesn't automatically switch to safe when opened .. not sure about their side-to-sides or how they've changed over the years though .. welshwarrior
Yes the a straight thin rod that goes through the head of the stock to push the safety on. It's not really a DIY job but any smith can do it.

TIDES EDGE
Yes get both done at once, nice walnut extension. Thats what I intend to have done. And no I was not born with them I am sure its from years of carting water to pheasant poults in plastic drums.
Bad Monkey
Was shooting the keepers AYA No2 today, that was auto safety, don't know if they all were? My Yeoman O/U was manual safety when I bought it. I bought the part from ASI and converted it to auto safety.
