Fredwalton
Hi what is the difference between a high bird cartridge and a normal cartridge?
Cyrus1988
The price tag.
Fredwalton
I'm only asking as I'm off on a driven day and normally shot clear pigeon and just wanted to check these would be suitable as don't want to buy a load of expensive cartridges for no reason
MattSoanes
Stick with what you know/have, they will be fine. If the birds are going to be especially high, wind some more choke In your gun if you can.
Fredwalton
Unfortunately I have a fixed choke gun, however hopefully saving up for a newer multi choke gun. But thanks for the advice
Alycidon
I'm only asking as I'm off on a driven day and normally shot clear pigeon and just wanted to check these would be suitable as don't want to buy a load of expensive cartridges for no reason They will be fine and you are used to their speed and performance, they will bring down birds 50 yards up as long as the pattern is in the right place. Most game guns are fixed choke, that is no disadvantage believe me. At this time of year on a normal driven shoot I doubt there will be anything you cannot reach. welshwarrior
32-34g of 4s instead of 30-32g 5-7 normally Clear pigeon will work fine on normal driven pheasants
southwest_colonel
Unless they're ridiculously high I'd concur that Clear Pigeons (32g ideally if there are some higher birds) are perfectly adequate at this stage of the season. Might be slightly wishful in January mind... Edited October 18, 2015 by southwest_colonel
figgy
Get a few boxes of mini magnums 40gram 4 just in case. Have you been told it's a high bird shoot,if it's not and show normal sporting birds your carts should be fine.
Fredwalton
Having spoken to the shoot captain the birds aren't stupidly high as they don't like birds being winged. My current cartridges are 30g so might buy some 32g as well just to be safe as can use these on pigeons as well. Again thanks all for the advice

figgy
Best Buy the cheapest then if your only going to make some noise get some practice in at a clay ground with a high tower or driven targets on, with the cartridges and gun your going to use.
