We have a pond that we feed regular and it's a tracing a lot of birds,we shot it nearly three weeks ago and took 4 birds each. And left as more birds were coming in but 8 birds between us was enough,we took a friend with us tonight and a lot of birds on pond as we got there they started to come back in numbers 5 then 2 then 6 then 3 and so on we shot well but after we shot 10 between 3 of us we left after feeding the pond .the feed going at a big rate but no wonder the amount of birds using it,goes to show if you don't overshoot and feed regular you can get good sport.

i have a pond like that about an acre and a half and another within 100yds about 1/4 acre and surrounded with trees with an island in the middle we have been feeding since mid september we shot 5 on the 1st sept 2 last saturday and hope to take 3 or 4 every 2 weeks surprising how much wheat they eat we are putting down 2 bucketsfull 3 times a week and its always gone. we feed the small pond only because of swans on the big one eating all the food.

The only problem with feeding is you can never stop as the young raised on feeding haven't the knowledge of were and how to find natural food

This is very evident on some reserves perhaps the best answer is supplementary feeding otherwise you duck will be pheasants that swim

all our duck were adult and wild, mainly mallard. most of the mallard seem to have gone and we are left with shoveler, gadwall, tufted, are they any good to eat? i think the mallard must come at some time as all the feed is always gone.i have noticed birds coming in when its too dark to shoot. this is my first attempt at a flight pond any advice welcome

Gadwall are just like small Mallard and will be fine to eat, Shoveler and Tufty's will be ok if minced and mixed with other stuff for burgers and the like, but on their own, in the great words of Crocodile Dundee 'you can live on it, but it tastes like sheet'.

Very true always use to give the Shoveler and tufftys to a elderly relative in days gone by!
