Guest rimotu66
As above. Has anyone got one? Your thoughts on it would be appreciated. I am hoping I can use it on my .22 rimmy and my .243, do I need a side parallax scope with this? The sales blurb suggests I do not?? Do I need a IR torch? Again the blurb suggests I do not. Also if anyone has one for sale let me know please.

rodp
Got a Ward D 700, very pleased with it. Nice to be able to look through a near eye viewer, instead of a screen, without needing a neck like a giraffe As for IR, all digital nv needs some ir, the further / clearer you want to see the more you need
Zetter
Hi ya unless you are set on having a head up screen I would go for a Ward D 700 unit instead. http://www.nightvisionstore.co.uk/ward-d-vision-700-digital-night-vision-c2x14686536 Its a little bit more pricy and you would need to get an IR torch (t20 is plenty and punches out to 200yards +) but its an inline add on so you don't get a glare off your face from the screen, your head position in mainly on the stock and the picture quality is great. Apart from getting a drone pro dedicated unit its widely thought of as one of the best digital add ons you can get at the moment. I have one that I use on my .17HMR,.22LR and various air rifle its been a revelation eye shine can be picked up at 300yards + and shooting at 120 + while fully seeing quarry and backstops is no issues. With IR on full I can run my scopes at 10-12 mag and still clearly view quarry at 120yards + (and this is with a basic T38 IR torch with a T50 or 60 IR torch you can go much further) which as I usually shoot off 10 mag makes range estimation a lot easier. For any add on unit you will require a parallax adjustable scope that can PX down to about 10 yards to get the best from these units. Side parallax isn't essential but it makes life easier with the twiddling to focus at different ranges especially with a .243. On the plus side or negative side (depends on the glass you have at the moment) digital add on units work best with cheaper scopes such as MTC Mamba light and Hawke. They are not the greatest with some high end glass such as S and Bs and Leups due to these scopes heaving better coatings which can filter out a lot of the IR transmission to the camera in the add on. Also variable power scope are an advantage as you can use lower mag i.e. 3x to properly acquire the target and then zoom in for the precision shot making bunny head shots in the dark at 100 yards much easier. Zetter
Damn too much typing and Rod beat me to it Hope you are enjoying yours mate it was the best £700 I have spent on shooting related kit. Just wish I could justify a thermal spotter now to find some of the bunnies I hit in the middle of fields rather than along the hedges. I've got a thermal spotter Believe me, you can justify one, it's almost like cheating. My mate, who insists on walking in front, very often (all the time) fails to spot rabbits and I have to call him back. This isn't just now and then, it's all the time. With a thermal there's no escape, dead or alive. Scan with nv, then with thermal, you'll be surprised just how many you didn't see.
rjimmer
I've got a NiteSite NS200 you can have for £340(screen filters included). It's only been out of the box <6 times. Just didn't like the head-up position. I've got a Photon to replace it. Edited October 25, 2015 by rjimmer

Davyo
Yep,that's why it sold.NS200 you might as well build a DIY using a E700.
rodp
Why would you want one with a screen when the Ward D has a near eye viewer. The Ward D is like looking through your normal scope. I always found the screens too close for my eyes when I used them, which was a while back now, that's one of the reasons viewers have become popular. And the viewer doesn't light your face up like a lighthouse in the middle of the field Everyone to their own though I suppose
Paul taylor
Know exactly what your saying rodp and I'd rather have near eye out in the fields but you can't beat a screen if your ratting as I do putting rifle over a pig pen walls. I'm not tall enough to use a near eye add on so screens perfect. Must admit I'd give my left nut for an archer though lol.
psycho
I actually like the NS200 its a very capable bit of kit and good for close range ratting and medium range fox off a set of sticks, it is good for high mag and the dealer back up is very good, it is better than a Yukon photon by a square mile as it is better than any gen 1 kit, the picture is superb and it can also be used in the day light, I wont mention the sniper cam only saying I would rather have my NS200 or the better WDV700 google sniper and you will get more info, I have also owned a Drone pro which I sold as it was heavy and I prefere not to have dedicated it is very good unit and one to look out for is the new armosight add on if/when it comes out it may give the WDV700 a run for top digital add on, until then I like many others will be happy with our NS200 which is in good company, I find a good spotter to be more important in the dark. True, everythings got it's good points and a screen is probably perfect for ratting over the wall or around corners.

Redgum
personally I have found the top mounted screens good to use well that is until the time comes when the old eyes start ta require the aid of reading glasses. I have a ns200 and have found it great, especially with the extra boost of an NM800 though it has its own IR. Now my eyes are not so good at close range it means I have to wear my reading glasses on my head to flip down when taking a shot, this is a pain, and worse when you forget the darn things all together. For this reason I think I will have to move to the Ward700, so my NS 200 is up for grabs at the right money. I have added an on/off switch so you don't have to click right through the IR powers to get to max, I just keep it on max and switch it on when needed.
