Taking firing pins out

I assume from your thread you are refering to a gun with disc set strikers.

I purchased mine (2 pin adjustable) from brownells in the USA and was lucky enough to have a friend returning from there to the UK who brought it back in his baggage. You need the likes of a carpenters brace to use this particular tool.

If you are thinking of purchasing, you should also consider a spare set of the removable pins as they can break if you have a disc that is difficult to remove. They will probably post to the UK as its a tool rather than a component part of a fiream.

Be aware that these discs can sometimes be a total pig to remove and depending on the gun can be retained by a vent or locking screw. You need to consider the cost and risk involved in attempting to do the job yourself against getting a working gunsmith to do the job for you. If you make a total pigs ear in removing the disc, getting a gunsmith to remove it will cost you more in the long run.

Helston Gun do a set .Buy British .

Are they 2 pin or 3pin ? As said it is very easy to ****** them up and can be costly to replace assuming you can get a blank that will fit .

I have had to replace a fair few that enthusiasts as well as so called professionals have tried to take out . If in doubt pass it on to some one who has the tools and the ability .

Have a look online and see if there is something showing how your guns ISVs are removed before attempting. If it looks difficult give to a good gunsmith to do.

I've found if something is stuck fast a good spray of release agent and a light tapping to the part and leaving it a while to penetrate works, if still stuck tapping the end of the tool at same time as trying turn out can help release it. Like hitting the end of a drive through screwdriver on stuck machine screws.
