rodp
You just don't get what I posted did you, if you think that what happens in Europe will not have an impact here then think again - BASC is fighting to stop laws in Europe coming to the UK its as simple as that We won't be in Europe very much longer

kory1986
From what I can gather it is proposed to bring EU firearms licensing more into line with that of the UK, so shotguns would be exempt. As above. If I still have the email I'll see if I can link to it. thanks for the reply Scully I just had my interview yesterday and it's looking good for me getting a firearms lieance well I was told there shouldn't be any reason way I wouldn't get one and one of the rifles I wanted was a ruger 10/22 but don't want want to pay out between 300 and 400 pound if in the next couple of months they were going to get band. I wouldn't worry too much either way; you would be compensated following a ban.
ordnance
We won't be in Europe very much longer It wasn't europe that brought in the draconian firearms laws that we already have in the UK. But it could help the other countries in europe keep their firearms if the UK leaves the EU , as the UK hold up the strict UK firearms laws as the way for the rest of Europe to go. The_Engineer
Morning all, An update from BASC http://basc.org.uk/blog/uncategorized/basc-to-brief-key-mep-on-european-firearm-proposals/ David Although BASC gets some stick on here this is great news and shows they have the credibility to get meetings like this. I wonder how hard it would be to get a meeting with an MEP as a member of the public? I've asked to meet my MP several times but don't have a hope (G. Osborne)! The last two paragraphs/sentences drive at the very heart of the issue for me. Edited January 27, 2016 by The_Engineer
Breastman
Not wanting to be a harbinger of doom but nothing is 'safe' until the EU Directive is issued and the UK comes up with its legislative response to it (or not - hopefully!), and you shouldn't stop pressurising your MEP's until then! While the Directive may apparently only* call for a ban on full-bore semi-auto rifles, that doesn't mean the UK wouldn't implement legislation that also covered .22 semis and/or shotguns. Just look at the form the government has in the past! Following the Hungerford shootings the 1988 Act brought in tigher regulation of shotguns - the investigation didn't even cover them and Michael Ryan didn't use one. Following the Dunblane shootings the recommendation of the investigating committee was that full-bore pistols should be split so the slide/cylinder was kept at the gun club and the frame went home with the shooter, and no mention of .22 pistols at all. What happened there again..... And don't rely on 'our mate' Dave, both of the above firearms acts were brought in by Tory governments. *We should still be campaigning for the rest of Europe that doesn't have our stupid full-bore semi-auto rifle ban, after all it the rest of Europe who have contributed the overwhelming majority of signatures on the Change.org petition against the directive. Livefast123
The only time our guns will be safe is when this legislation fails. Until then, all shooters should be writing to MPs, MEP's and signing the petition.
