Local lad
yes, I am. The situation is not helped by the fact that we do get a small core of shooter that have no idea what they are doing and if you try and offer advise then you get a mouthful of lip. Added to that is the Foundation just outside the village of Findhorn which is made up of white settles from all over the world who hug trees and eat lentil soup, you get the picture. edenman
Indeed I do, you guys have my support in defeating this petition but I fear that a permit system is coming for better or worse.

Blunderbust
Indeed I do, you guys have my support in defeating this petition but I fear that a permit system is coming for better or worse. Being an absent but founder member of your club (going by your Avatar) I agree fully with you but feel the permit system will be the start of the death of the great Scottish wildfowling way of life. Local lad
Would totally agree but with the numbers of white settles in the area promoting a total ban and the added fact we do get a lot of visitors that think because they have a 3" magnum or bigger they can shoot geese at 3000 feet its a struggle. Local lads like me are saddened that this is partially down to our own cloth. I now find myself lecturing any shooter I meet on the do's and don'ts of shooting on the bay. Up to now everyone has been civil and thanked me for the advise.
panoma1
How can the opinion of a few people with an obviously anti shooting agenda, remove the age old right of the public (everyone) to access the Scottish foreshore for the purpose of recreation including Wildfowling.........just because they don't like it? wymberley
There is always a risk of wounding with any shot at any distance but that increases greatly the further you push things so I would say yes high shooting will be playing a large part . I don't think the shot type makes a difference as those responsible will still try to push things beyond the limit of what they are using , it must be worse in Scotland with no club commitees etc to be held accountable to. Sadly, very true. Back in the days of lead it was said that the paper boys in Forres recovered the most geese. A mate took a couple of days off to go trout fishing in the fishery which was on the goose flight path into Spynie Loch at Pitgaveney. The first morning he pulled in 5 and the second, 3, which couldn't quite make it to the Loch and put down on the fishery where they died. Yes, they'd been shot. TONY R
Sadly i fear the free shore in Scotland is steadily being taken away from the independent wildfowlers who like to eek out their sport on the forshores. DREAD TO THINK WHAT IT COULD BE LIKE IN tEN YEARS.
Local lad
Yes I have no idea. Looks as if I am now either banned or blocked from the ministers web site. He and two other anti shooters had posted some anti shooting stuff, usual eco mulch as reviews on a Scottish tourist web site promoting the bay. The vid was pasted in and the petition web site address asking everyone to sign up to ban shooting. I called the site owners who apologised and removed the reviews ASAP but also removed the page promoting the area. I also left the following comment on his goose youtube site but it has either been removed or I just cant access it. This video clip was also posted on a Scottish tourist board web site along with two other anti shooting propaganda reviews. These have now been removed but in doing so the web page promoting Findhorn Bay has also been removed. All local residents that make a living from tourism, please thank your locally Church off Scotland minister for assisting in removing this web page that helps promote the area. guzzicat
Just had my last day of the season there this morning, self a fowling buddy never had our guns up,saw a lovely sunrise, a few lots of geese flighting off, met a party of like minded souls, 3 & a dog, nice end to the season, hope things go well with the bay,the main problem is from "the cowboy corner," birds are shot at too close to the village, I had one look there, too many dog walkers, & other guns.
