Ttfjlc
Evening all, fingers crossed I'll have a new gun on Saturday and that set me thinking, does anybody load 3 1/2" shells with anything other than steel? I might consider having a go at reloading and wondered if anybody has used hevishot or power shot? Are these viable or is the cost not worth thinking about?! fenboy
They are available but I find a 3" case big enough for heavy weight shot personally , you can get up 50 grams in a 3" case . I load heavier steel loads into 3.5" ( 42 gram) . I do know some people that load heavy weight into 3.5" but they are rich

I only asked about hevishot since the max factory loads seem to be 34g 3's and that just seems to me to be a bit light in terms of pattern at range however as always I don't mind being proven wrong. fenboy
I load 44grams of 2s in heavy weight shot and that will give me just over 80% pattern at 50 yards.

Just my personal opinion and first hand experience save your money and the extra bit of shot. I would/Do load 1-1/2oz in a 3 " case of PWS-Hevi Shot or HW13 preferably 4 shot or 2 shot I've found it All hits harder than Lead. As with any shot and load we use it still has to be put in the right place. Whilst I shoot 99% 36grm Steel for foreshore Geese having 3-4 of the PWS-Hevi Shot or HW13 in your pocket or second barrel certainly can add the odd extra Goose. rjimmer
Between £61 - £71 a kilo at clay & game. I'd better put a second padlock on the shed, then. I can't remember how many kilos I bought about 10 years ago. Don't know if it's the sort that needs to be buffered or not. kent
There is very little real ballistic advantage in a super magnum in steel in high cost ( so badly called non toxic like tungsten etc) with these I should say non much if at all. Stick to a std magnum in a 12 The super mag only gives a higher pellet count of worth when your into large steel pellets over bb which you wouldn't load in such as biz or tungsten amyhow
