hatsanmad
Hi guys sorry to be a pain. Has anyone got a decent piece of data using longshot using wads ect that are available in the uk? I have looked on hodgdons website but the wads there listing arent available or cant find here in the uk like the windjammer wads ect. Or even better what size fiber wads to use in place? Im going to load 30,32&36 gram lead loads. Sorry for being a nuesance guys. Regards hatsan
Guest cookoff013
Maybe say the gauge and or shell length?

hakapiken
I have used Longshot for 32g, 36g and 38g loads in 12/70 using Guilandi sg22 for 32g and sg19 for 36 and 38g. Also used B&P Z2M 21 for both 32 and 38g. Don't think Longshot powder will burn clean with 30g load. Must use a felt wad in the bottom to get the crimp right on 32g with z2m21. All data in once fired hulls. All data in gram. 2,3x32 sg22 (6 shot) V1: 475 ms 2,1x36 sg19 (6 shot) V1: 440ms 2x38 sg19 or z2m21 (6 shot) V1: 430ms Close at 58mm with a gaep bn2. The z2m21 gives ca 40 bar lower pressure and a litle less speed than Sg wads. All these loads work great but kicks like hell. The italians load 2,15x38 i New hulls and Call it "The Italian Hammer Load" (pressure: 850 bar) J.A. Ohh, forgot to say. I'm using cheddite and Fiocci hulls. J.A. rbrowning2
Cartridge "pressure 850 bar "??? So only suitable for a 12gauge guns proof over 1200 bar ? = " kicks like hell" Maximum pressure The following maximum pressures for shot shells were set by the C.I.P., the body that oversees user safety: SHOT SHELL MAX P. INDIVIDUAL MAX Normal proof fressure 900 bar 12 gauge and bigger 650 bar 747 bar Proof over 1200 bar All gauges 900 bar 1030 bar Lack of compliance with this norm can lead to serious consequences. MAB1954
850 bar is about 12,325 psi. Not even seen American data with pressure that high in a 23/4 case, from memory that's out of CIP & SAAMI spec's.

fandango
Just trying to decipher the recipe,, sorry for my stupidity... Is the "2,3x" the powder charge in grams, "32" is this the shot load in grams.. Think the rest is wad, shot size and velocity1=475ms 2,3x32 sg22 (6 shot) V1: 475 ms 2,1x36 sg19 (6 shot) V1: 440ms 2x38 sg19 or z2m21 (6 shot) V1: 430ms
rbrowning2
Unfortunately Mate, that reads about as clear as mud. Oops columns out of syn but a cartridge of 850 bar is out of cip proof for a gun proofed at 900bar. Maximum pressure The following maximum pressures for shot shells were set by the C.I.P., the body that oversees user safety: SHOT SHELL MAX P. INDIVIDUAL MAX 12ga Normal gun proof fressure 900 bar 12 gauge cartridge max.p=650 bar individual max 747 bar Proof over 1200 bar All gauges max.p=900 bar individual max=1030 bar Lack of compliance with this norm can lead to serious consequences. hakapiken
Yes fandango. You got it right! Talking about pressure. I would not recomend the Italian load at 850 bar unless you reloads new hulls and have a gun that can take it!!! My loads however is well within the cip norm. With Longshot you need pressure for a clean burn. With pressure comes velocity and recoil....kicks like a mule. In my huntingloads I like to use a powder that gives me 400-410 ms (V1). Better patterns and comfortable shooting...... But, Longshot 2x38 Z2M21 has very good patterns at loooong range. Maybe usable for high birds? J.A. roughshooter
Have a look at Ballistic Products website and load of the week. They use a lot of european wads in there data
