welshwarrior
Any recommendations for a 20 bore steel load for duck flighting. Personally only used my 12 bore with steel but wife only shoots a 20 bore.

oldfarmer
Someone asked me to look into getting 20 bore steel shot cartridges for duck shooting last year. I could only find 24g loads listed which were not heavy enough for him. He then asked me to get a price on some heavy load non toxic - TM I think. I'm afraid I had to insist he sat down before I told him what a 1000 would cost. I think he went out and bought a good second hand 12 bore and 1000 steel cartridges and had change rather than buying the 20 bore cartridges. landofficer
Does any one have an idea on what can be home loaded with regards to a 20b steel load, as what's been said 24g is all that's available and a slightly heavier load would be useful Cheers
welshwarrior
Thought I'd been missing something, she's a box of Bismuth but won't buy anymore. Anyone tried the 24g steels.
Albert 888
I bought and used some a few years ago. They where 24g number 5's long hilted brass yellow cartridges with red wrighting on,I think they where gambore in a yellow box with white wrighting. They worked on decoyed widgen fairly close, but I wouldn't use on anything not coming in though. Hope it helps.
6.5x55SE
Try these before I reloaded my own these are what I used for Duck and even shot plenty of Geese with them. In a 3" case 1oz of Steel is a good reload I've shot a 20ga for 40 odd years Hope this is of some help
hoggysreels
I got hold of a box of gamebore 25g steel, in anticipation of shooting our Xmas duck or goose .. anyhow. We decided on buying a goose Sunday gone. The purchase was decided after taking into consideration of my prior success l've shown over past Xmas meal .. which amounts to zero .. l only wish my success rate matched my anticipation level ..
