chris1961
I find it a lot cheaper to reload game cartridges. The high pheasant for example are £7+ a box I can make them for less than £3 a box. I am very lucky to still be able to buy cut offs in drums which give me my primers and powder I also run all my own shot. But without these clay and game reloaders at Hull have everything you will need. you can order on line or by the phone. if you want to load for pigeons etc go to a clay ground and pick up the empty hulls I use all 70mm from my local clay ground I asked for permission and was told not a problem I picked up a couple of thousand in the summer and these have now gone I need more but its winter and not too many dry days to get them.Like the other lads on here it can be very addictive but it's also a great feeling to kill and eat something that you have made yourself. Good luck . +1 nothing like it

You must be mad AS is a 30 gram powder. please don't post dangerous loads just because it goes bang don't make it right, what you should have done is use a different wad not more shot

rbrowning2
I will assume you are new to reloading and need a little help ! You are near the max at 1.47gm of AS and above the 32gm lead shot weight max that AS is designed for. You do not say the length of case you are using, so if it was 70mm then try a 67mm case with 30 or 32gm of shot. If you are using 67mm cases then split an over powder card in to two using a sharp knife and add that between the normal card and 18mm wad to take up more space then use 30 or 32gm of shot. If that works then try 20mm wads. What press are you using? AS is a good powder for 28, 30 and 32gm loads so lots data for it if not seek help from this forum or one of the suppliers of AS. Edited to add I hope this is 12ga ? Edited January 19, 2016 by rbrowning2

Don't load anything else until you have data and a set of scales

You need to have a little think about what you're doing. It seems that you're more concerned with getting a load that fits your case, rather than getting a safe load to use. I would advise going no further until you read a decent reloading manual.
Uncle Albert
SOMEBODY SAID A NUMBER 171 BUSHING ON A LEE LOAD ALL SHOULD BE OK BUT I AM STILL REDUCING MY POWDER TILL I GET IT RIGHT SORRY FOR ALL THE PANICK YES THIS RELOADING IS NEW TO ME. Regardless of what anybody said to you, it is vital that before you start you check the weight of powder that a bush is dropping. I started off reloading with a Lee Load-All 2 and the press does make good shells but you need to do a charge drop table before you start. Just fill up the powder side and go through the sequence of loading a shell. When you drop the powder (into a plastic cup), weigh it and record it. Do this with all your bushes just in case you need to load another cartridge size. If the press is new it will take a while to settle down and you can get good accurate results. Discard any spurious weights from your table. Do the same with the shot side as well. Well worth the time spent and it gets you used to the vagaries of the press. Once I felt confident with the press I started going for different loads. Always err on the side of caution as you are dealing with explosives. We don't want you to end up losing parts of your anatomy. Only use published data from a reliable source. If you give John at FES a ring he will put you on the right road. He gave me a sheet of loads for cartridges of different sizes, some of which were produced by people on here.. He is a mine of information. They will probably help with selecting components etc. where about s in the country are you?
