rbrowning2
PF will carry sec 1 ans 2 firearms and airguns for BASC members, PAR freight are Section 5 cleared, Worth discussing powder transfers with World Options Contacts for the couriers (as above) we are working with are on the trade section of the BASC web site Ammunition couriers are an issue I agree, we are working on it and will do all we can to help the industry, its sad we had no warning of this decision by TNT But benefit of using TNT was that I could ask my RFD when he was ordering from Henry krank to get me some PPU ammo, expanding bullets and reloading powder etc and it was just one delivery fee which help keep the price low. If you now need the services of three different couriers then prices will increase in fact one wonders how many small gun shops could fold as a result of this. Ziplobb
This from FES website TNT claim that these changes are as a consequence of the recent terrorist incidents across Europe and what TNT refer to as "heightened security and risk". Yet again we the law abiding sportsperson is being xxxxxxx for no fault of are own. The EU would dearly wish for no citizen to have firearms - the rules they wish & indeed will impose on sportspeople given time have nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with taking legitimate firearms away from those who do not misuse them Edited January 16, 2016 by Ziplobb

Yet again we the law abiding sportsperson is being xxxxxxx for no fault of are own. What a load of cobblers from TNT...it does seem more an opportunity to rip us off from first impressions. The question has to be asked about the need for any changes at all to their security arrangements given the strict conditions already in place to provide that service! If PF can do it for less, so can TNT. I suspect they've left an opening for others to win future tenders for this service. How will this impact on ammo sales generally? Will this mow mean that we all have to pay considerably more for our ammo (esp S5) when walking into our local RFDs? Yet another angle that law abiding shooters are being targeted at...ye gods if its not the bleeding RSPB and others trying to ban shooting full stop, the LAC fiasco, constant licencing changes and waits then now the very service we've come to rely on for equitable transfer pricing have decided to pitch in and have their pound of flesh. Spectacular own goal.
brett1985
so... seeing as I'm down in cornwall (120 miles away from Exeter) then to get a gun transferred down to me would cost approx. £113 absolute bull poop. I hope when TNT find out that they have effectively hung themselves with this move, that it is too late to do anything about it. ####s
rbrowning2
According to the web TNT are in the process of merging with fed-ex and even though fed-ex is an American company they transport no gun etc as part of their policy. Makes you wonder if that is the real truth behind all this?

Makes you wonder if that is the real truth behind all this? I think you are absolutley on the nail with this - fedex despite shipping firearms in the US have a no gun policy elsewhere - this has nothing to do with £££

Ziplobb
Just checked JustCartridges web site and they are still quoting £15.00 carrige cost per thousand as before and seemd to remember they used TNT definitely UKMail - I know Charles has had major issues over the years and they are one of the few that carr 1.4s hazard which is shot gun carts -powder and metallic falls into a different catagory and remmeber expanding ammo is section 5 so wahtever the carriers attitude to carrying something the ammo is technically prohibited under our current legislation and so the carriers must be licensed in the same was as we all are with the exemption on our certificates for S5 ammo
gunboi
The reason is fedex have bought out tnt , fedex have a no airgun rule full stop, bit rich coming from an american company me thinks.
al4x
No FedEx have a no gun rule outside the USA, we pick up a few antique firearms that they won't carry when they trigger the alarm bells at stansted. Ultimately tnt and FedEx are that busy they don't need the hastle that goes with firearms whether new or old. It is an issue all over and I wonder how long parcel force will last before they go the same way
Jakeeboy
Hi TNT new price £40+ vat +£1.05 a mile outside 50 miles from depo So to ship a gun from south coast to Peterborough area £232. +vat + rfd fee And yes I'm not happy The knock on effect of these charges to gunsmiths /shops is going to be astronomical All the best Of Unfortunately, according to my RFD this is correct. However, what makes it even worse is that it also applies to expanding heads, live ammo and powder.
