Fox "Hypnotising" Bantams

Not sure which section to post this in but help me out please.

A client told me yesterday they had clipped their Bantams wings to stop them flying up into the trees to escape the fox, because the local farmer told them the fox will just sit at the bottom of the tree and stare at the Bantams (Hypnotise them) and they fall out of the tree.

Apart from the fact that sounds daft anyway, as with clipped wings the Bantams seem to have even less chance of escaping the fox, but its a new one on me, has anyone else heard this or is it a wind up?

Cheers

Heard something similar once where a fox kept moving back and forth below a pheasant perched above it, eventually the bird just dropped out the tree and was grabbed by said fox! Never seen it myself but then again I probably wouldn't stand there watching long enough for the fox to work his voodoo, especially if I was armed!
