LeadWasp
if you're going down the glue route and the fit is tight/interference try WeiconLock http://www.weicon.com/pages/en/products/adhesive/1c-adhesive/weiconlock.php we use it underwater but it is used for architectural stainless steel work Edited February 17, 2016 by LeadWasp

Then I'll go the resin road.[/quot I am telling you, let Fruitloop play with it and it will end up in the bin it will be fine we have the tools and knowledge to rebuild it

Dougy
Fruity, you did say it was not as easy as some suggested on here, funny they all make out that there experts. Anyway I really appreciate your attempts, the first blast with the welding thing quite surprised me, I didn't think they got quite that hot so quick. Maybe I should have removed that plastic spacer before hand. Never mind doesn't matter now, it did smell a tad. I will try and see if someone can smelt it down and maybe roll it out, and start afresh.

Dougy
Yes a cracking job, needs a touch of polishing to smooth the welds a little more and then either bluing or coating with something. But yes a fine job, thank you fruity.
kent
It's not easy on thin stuff tig is about 30 amps per mm most magazines will be half that There are a few tricks like copper or ali heat sinks but it's far from easy, that's why the last I did ( fractured along the spot welded seam I used metal epoxy) that don't melt plastic spacers neither lol

fruitloop
glad you are happy with it doggy. no melted cheese lol but the hot glue worked well as im only a DIY welder but I had washed my hands before I held it.... . backers are ok but it can draw the heat to fast and harden the steel and get the fractures' . the unit I have is a 200amp ac/dc inverter and its the dogs ding dongs for a 240v home unit its got some right useful tricks on it .. Paul223
I would have thought the magazine base plate was heavy enough to carry the heat, surely making the job easy enough for the most amateur of tig welders
