fenboy
My season ends tomorrow as I am working Friday and Saturday . I managed to end a run of eight blanks tonight with a left and right at a pair of wigeon , I thought that may be a good way to end a decent season but have decided on a tide flight tomorrow afternoon to finish things up. kent
I am not sure I want to finish the season with another blank and empty sky. Still got major amounts of flood inland
anser2
Probably going to do my last flight Friday. No that there is much about. I did the flight last night, a hand full of teal and 4 mallard were on the main creek as the tide ebbed , but only saw a pair of distant mallard at evening flight and no quarry geese but , thousands of brent. Only had two foreshore duck since early December , despite a lot of flights. By far the worst season I have ever had. Roll on 2016\17 season, things can only get better.....I hope.. TONY R
Still lots of chances if you put the time in, i have been flat out working for past few days but will be out tonight tomorrow and Saturday you wont get them sat at home. I will be in the scotish borders where i first got amongst the pinks this season tomorrow, did biefly consider going south and the pinks are still about but few and far between, if you are out for a try on the wash i know two pinks were killed yesterday morning lynn way and two not far from gedney drove end and 4 widgeon shot near the airfield last night plus 8 widgeon were killed last night and 7 were caried off near kirton. So its still happening. DONT GIVE UP GO FILL YOUR BOOTS! Edited February 18, 2016 by TONY R
Guttersnipe
counting the hours down to my day off tomorrow then a carefully coordinated family holiday starting Sunday. Good tides with us in the morning and cold enough to have frozen inland - geese in the morning, still a few straggling pinks. Evening will be a late one with a 21:00 tide but shooting under the moon until midnight - the wigeon have been coming in very late with us. Bag returns in on Saturday to avoid penalties - i've only done half the flights of last year due to circumstances but only a third of the ducks, geese slightly up... seems a similar story to elsewhere. You never know tomorrow may bump up the numbers... All the very best for the summer... keep out of mischief

kent
Let's hope for a good breeding season one might think fecundity should be up with all these inland floods to feed on all winter and not one protracted frost

marsh man
Until this thread came up today I was wondering weather people still go for the 20 days in Feb , I go up the river every morning as it break light and up to now I haven't seen anybody or heard a single shot , mind you most of our geese have moved on and there is very little movement where the duck are , so for the time being my boots I tramped about in the mud will stay hung up . I used to enjoy the extra 20 days and no doubt you had the mild weather like we are getting now but when you look back you only seem to remember the cold and snowy ones when the dykes and Broads were frozen over and the estuary was then full of duck , the only problem we had was either going roost shooting or fowling on a Saturday , and I think most times we went after duck in the mornings and the woods in the afternoon . Happy days ... and good luck to you all over the last few days .

A lesson learned there for sure ,next time they ask how I got on they will not be getting an answer , if I wanted a the location of what I have shot and where sharing over the internet by third parties I would do it myself They were there just trying to eeak out some sport 100+ miles from home ok one of them blanked that night but they got their long distance evaluation of that marsh spot on by the sounds of it, plus if they had not split up and both gone out together they could have perhaps shot a few more. This late in the season i cant understand your super sensitive attitude, esspecialy when 90% of your approaching 12k threads on these forums give a day on day shot on shot account of your wildfowling exploits down those marshes. If you realy want secret squirels would you not be better posting nothing at all.

I may share my outings with the forum it would not be half the forum it is if people did not share some of their shooting experiences be it wildfowl , pigeon foxing etc . While I may be happy to share details of my outings I never put the location I am shooting preferring to share that information with a few trusted friend who do likewise with me . I wonder if you would have been so quick to share that information if you were going to be shooting there these last couple of days ? I can understand that but realy you need to get out more. I am sure wash wildfowler can stick up for himself ----- but the man you are telling " he needs to get out more" has perhaps helped more people out with regards shooting the wash and introducing young and new shooters to the sport than you have had hot dinners , often to the detriment of his own shooting also, as those he has taken out off this forum will testify. He is also a active committee member of one of the wash clubs doing countless work for the club where many cannot be bothered . For that reason I find your post rather disrespectful . Thats obvious but it wont make a difference to anyone, people still have to get amongst the birds no location was ever given near kirton is a prety big area, and not a guarantee of anything by itself. Anyone venturing out on the wash esspecialy those marshes must surely expect every marsh to have fowlers on it in these last few flights. Just because you live local you dont own the marsh, others from all around the country suport those clubs, no one wants anything handed them on a plate, but to dismiss the true facts as a LIE You steped right out of the nice chap catagory RIGHT THERE. Now pres that button and if our paths ever cross please do me the honour of ignoring me complety.
