JDog
A hastily arranged roost shooting session this afternoon saw my old Cotswold shooting buddy and myself meet at a wood this afternoon at 4:45. On arrival two things were wrong. Firstly the wind was wrong and three hundred birds entered the very large wood as we got our guns out. However we were there and we tramped across to the wood bantering as we went. The birds were well settled into the far side of the wood and we both knew that our chances would be limited. A shot into the air moved a few birds and one in particular came towards us over the wood. My companion fired at it and it fell dead. It must have been 65 - 70m high. I know he has shot some crackers in the past but by his own admission this was the best ever.. We inspected it afterwards and found two or three pellets had gone through its wings and the fatal pellet had gone through its neck. I was pleased to have witnessed such a shot. The cartridge was a Lyalvale pigeon power in 29 grams. Edited March 9, 2016 by JDog

rimfire4969
It's great to see a fantastic shot like that. On one of our beaters day this season it's a cocks only day at a renowned high bird shoot on the first drive one of the highest birds I have seen came towards us it was a hen but one gun could not resist a shot and the bird collapsed stone dead. This gun is known as a good shot and he proved it. Even the head keeper said he was forgiven for shooting a hen because it was such a good shot. The other four hens shot that day obviously meant a lot of **** taking at the guns involved.

pigeon controller
JDog I bet you could not load any quicker , I've been next to your impatient high shots before??? Well done to your friend that's one of those shots of a lifetime, I think I mentioned before DB was showing off and took a shot that I think he thought he would not hit but when he did it was stoned . Again congratulate your friend and this will give you another milestone to achieve . Edited March 10, 2016 by pigeon controller
