crowdie2013
morning- I'm getting a summer house/office built but living in the sticks don't get any mobile reception. My work got me a Vodafone sure signal thing that is hard wired to the modem and gets me a signal in the house. Range is meant to be up to 100 metres but in truth your lucky if it's 10 metres. Anyway I can't hard wire a line to the summer house as it would mean digging up my drive/moling under some dykes etc- build will be about 45metres from house- has anyone got any ideas if it's possible to get boosters that would give me wifi coverage and could it located within the build? Thanks in advance
photon
Have you got power to your office? If yes this may solve the problem http://www.techradar.com/news/networking/powerline-networking-what-you-need-to-know-930691. Doh! Need to read the question before posting, Sorry Edited March 20, 2016 by photon
HDAV
You would probably need a second sure signal in the summer house and use Ethernet over mains to get the network there but a pair and test them Try solwise for power line kit, but loads on the market or you could use some pukka wifi kit (not bogo pcworld rubbish) https://www.ruckuswireless.com/products/access-points/zoneflex-outdoor Edited March 20, 2016 by HDAV

srspower
Dig up the garden and lay some copper, you won't regret it.
figgy
Stick some poles up and go overland with power and communications.
grrclark
You could get a wifi repeater device for both ends with directional antennas that will span that distance ok, but if you have power in the shed the use of mains network extenders is worth a go first. Munzy
You have two issues, not only do you need to beam the network down to the summer house you also need to be able to send data back to the house from your computer, these are two different things. For example, you can get boosters which beam the network 10km BUT whilst you can walk 10km into the woods and see the network on your phone/laptop you won't be able to access the Internet because your devices (phone/laptop) don't have the strength to pass data back to base. The Ubiquiti systems already suggested are great! We use Nanostations to share our network at the main house with a smaller house 250m away. Essentially we have our main modem and wireless router in the main house, coming out of the router we then have a CAT5 cable which plugs into the Nanostation which is positioned on the roof pointing towards the other house. At the other house we have another Nanostation pointing back at the main house which is then linked by CAT5 to another wireless router that spreads the network around the small house. Works like a charm, no issues since installation 3 months ago and no noticeable drop in speed between surfing in the main house or the smaller one. Wingman
If you've got power to it I have a spare power line adapter boxed and unused. PM me if you want the details.
