ElvisThePelvis
Any suggestions for sites to help identify eggs? Loads of broken eggs around this morning that something had been having a good go at, just wondered what species the egg would have been, i am guessing Pheasant or Grey Partridge, or is it too early for them? Thanks.

ElvisThePelvis
Pictures? With something of known size (coin) beside them! Annoyingly I didn't think of that at the time, from a google search they look like partridge eggs but are quite big, about the size of a golf ball, maybe a little smaller but not much. TIDES EDGE
Sounds like pheasant plenty about now and crows will often take them to one place to eat them so you get lots in one place.

Thanks that would make sense, loads of crows around at the moment and a lot of pheasants too.
KFC
Paths & bridleways often get littered with Pheasant eggshells because Crows drop them to smash them and then eat the contents. Unfortunately they do the same with Walnuts at the end of summer in the car park where there's two Walnut trees and they don't always miss the cars
