kory1986
Sell the 10/22 Send your FAC In for a free "one for one" variation thanks for the reply it most likely take tvp 6 months for that.
saddler
No other option as you cannot legally buy a replacement .22 without a free .22 slot on your FAC. TVP are slow, but not the slowest. I had a variation away for a year one time! While the FAC is being sorted, nothing to stop you shopping for what you want. I've known folk add guns to friends FACs if they have appropriate slots free...then access them on club nights, range days, etc., then get the gun added to their FAC when the slot is granted. (& ONLY take physical possession at that time). May be an idea.
TIGHTCHOKE
thanks for the reply it most likely take tvp 6 months for that. Then wait for 6 months, the Licensing Teams are unlikely to be beefed up any time soon.
Les*1066
thanks for the reply it most likely take tvp 6 months for that. If you sell your 10/22 privately, or part exchange it at a RFD, you will need to apply for a variation before you can buy another rifle. If you can't wait 6 months for a variation to come through, then you'll just need to start 'feeling' your Ruger. You can always modify your Ruger, as well, to make it more suitable. There are more add-ons and stock variations for the 10/22 than any other rifle on earth. These all started out as 'normal' 10/22's. For example:- https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ruger+10/22&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwie6qypqrjMAhULDMAKHbRKBcgQsAQIHA&biw=1920&bih=898 Edited May 1, 2016 by Les*1066
Bangbangman
The 10/22 has an astronomical number of customisation options which can really change the feel of the gun. If you don't want the hassle of a 1-4-1 variation then trying to rectify what you don't like about the 10-22 might be an option. Of course, this might be throwing good money after bad... As for pointability, my 10-22 has a carbon-shrouded Volquartsen barrel and sits in a Boyds Evo stock: it's beautifully light, accurate and points like a dream. Unfortunately these mods aren't cheap. fortune
Go see a hypnotist to convince you that you don't need an MP 15/22. Somehow modify what you have or get to love it or do as post #4. But this has some pitfalls because although you may own it financially, the weapon is on another ticket so you have no control over what happens to it with the other party involved. When you want to use it They have to get it out and bring it to the range. And if their personal life turns over for some reason you will have all sorts of fun because it isn't on your ticket and you can't get access to have or to use it If they aren't available. OR pay the bloke who has the one that you used to shoot with it down at the range until you get a sale and variation through. Sometimes people want things really badly and when they get them the urge has gone off And they change their mind. Over to you.
Zetter
Kory It wont be 6 months mate especially on a one for one. Its not great but I just did a variation to add an FAC air to my ticket and it was three months start to finish this included a telephone interview with the FEO. I would think one for one would be faster as it shouldnt need FEO to do the telephone interview. Cheers Neil

Some people have had a quick turnaround but others have had to wait nearly a year. The departments don't give a hoot about who you are or what you want. There is a que and you will have to wait your time. It's bad.

bang bang birdy
I had a mp15-22 and got rid of it after 6 months. It was fun but not very accurate or reliable. I loved the idea of it but the reality of it was very different.
