Oly
What's your agreed deer management plan on this land V-Max?
Holland&Holland
Congratulations ! I consider this a big buck, based on the pictures. It also has nice and thick antlers with all those "freggles" (how do you call the tiny relief bits on the antlers? ) How much does the head weigh? v-max
Hello & thank's Oly good question but on 2-3 including this bit is small area's & i shoot on site in season this farm in paticular is a berry farm with a busy road next to it & they come in may month & then mid november so any a bonus realy. On my main farm whare i try to manage them i would have left this lad as he's 5/7yrs i guess & the other 6/8yrs & shootable to me as you may know i shoot a handful young cull stuff as my main target aprill/may then relax on the buck's & just go out to see if any new buck's or any unseen & on the marches big stuff get it.H/H we call it pearling & iv not skined it yet but guess 400/600g so i would say a big silver or skim a gold medal. rarms
On a side note how do you clean them off so quick? Boil them?

Hodmedod.one
On a side note how do you clean them off so quick? Boil them? If you look more closely, you will see that the skull is not the same head.
rarms
The clean one is labelled as Mondays buck?
Hodmedod.one
The clean one is labelled as Mondays buck? It doesn't take long to do them. Cut the skull to the desired shape with a hacksaw (a jig is a big help, but you can do it in the vice). Cut as much flesh as possible off the trophy. Boil it for about 45 mins. Add a couple of spoons of washing soda to the water. Only submerse the actual bone of the skull, don't let the water get onto the antlers as it will take the colour out of them. Rinse and then clean any remaining flesh off. Paint on hydrogen peroxide to bleach the bone until it is nice and white. Cover the skull in strips of kitchen towel and leave in a dish and the peroxide will get soaked up and keep the skull wet. You can do one in less than a day. Have a go
henry d
. It also has nice and thick antlers with all those "freggles" (how do you call the tiny relief bits on the antlers? ) They`re called "pearling" here. B)
