Hendrix's rifle
If I remember correctly the cranks let go. I know someone who did approx 40-50k trouble free miles in one. I also know people who will never go back to them!
fenboy
The thing is we get to hear far more about the few that go wrong than the 100s that don't , I have recently been tying myself in knots looking for a 4x4 and if I took notice of the reviews I would have brought a push bike. I would think for the price it would be worth a punt .

You should assume it will need a bit of money spending on it every year to get through the MOT, and, sooner or later, something will go horribly wrong on it and it will be scrap. You hope it's later, rather than sooner !
Ridgeway Redneck
I have a 55 plate navara, it's not the tidiest thing body work wise, but mechanically it's never let me down I've hardly spent anything on it in the last 3 years apart from consumables. I'd say go for it at that money.

johnnytheboy
Anyone thinking about getting a navara would be well advised to look at the Facebook group called "nissan navara snapped chassis group" Pretty scary stuff, I for one would not be putting my loved ones anywhere near a navara without proper inspection

I would think for the price it would be worth a punt . I think, though, that the big end was a real problem on this age Navara, much like the heads on the same age L200 are notorious! Some vehicles get a bad rep. for no fair reason... some on the other hand, it is justified.
coldweld
Chassis goes behind the cab, Has duplex timing chain driving a single chain ! Its the single that snap's and destroys the head. Its not if its when. BUT for £1800 any model 4x4 will have the potential to go bang or snap so good luck and have fun
