Bluebarrels
After having problems with shop bought hide netting, firstly having problems seeing out through the net (due to the black anti snag netting) and secondly sometimes I think they aren't thick enough and allow birds especially corvids to see you in the hide,so i' ve come up with this as a solution like it or not it works for me ive put a nice viewing panel at the top with a thicker panel lower down BB (wearing a full head net I should be pretty invisible lol) Screen by itself Screen with a piece of additional cam 2x screens packed away (cart to show how small they are)

Try wearing it without rollers mate.
fortune
Nothing wrong with what you've done but all you've done is to thicken the bottom up. If you keep still and the pattern is right, the birds will come in no problem. I've decoyed just standing behind a gatepost before but you've got to keep still until the last moment. Example >> How many times have you gone outside and pigeons just sit on the lines and take no notice of you or the dog at all walking around the garden. Not the case at all where I shoot mate, the crows are very switched on and can spot u a mile away through a net.Thats the reason ive thickened the bottom of the net like I have and left a panel of clear view netting all around the top, this will ensure I have max concealment but still be able to see incoming birds, without the need of taking 2/3 nets every trip I have 15 + years of corvid decoying under my belt,so think I know what im doing and whilst I agree with your example for pigeons this is not always the case with corvids in my experience BB
deny essex
I use similar with 25 cm of clear view net stitched around the top of my stealth net for pigeon shooting.
welshwarrior
Nice idea but doesn't blend well with the fence panels. Good job WW
J.R.
Not the case at all where I shoot mate, the crows are very switched on and can spot u a mile away through a net. Crows are also extremely wary where I shoot. I also overlap 2 lightweight "Realtree" nets across the front to aid concealment. I find that when a site to erect the hide is chosen I never walk straight in to erect. I walk down the field 8-9 metres past it and then walk through the undergrowth and walk back through the undergrowth to where I wish to erect the hide. Doing this means that when the hide is erected the growth in front of the hide is not flattened or disturbed. This really helps the hide to blend in and disguise the lower bottom half as the natural growth of weeds and plants is standing erect in front of the hide. Edited June 19, 2016 by J.R.
