Dougy
Another nice picture, do you take them home and set the studio up for a photo shoot.
oowee
Dougy is on the right lines me thinks. That picture foxhunter looks like a shot from Country Life. Lighting is just about perfect you can even see the sprinkle of green leaves added for contrast. Puts my shoddy effort, lit with the lamp and taken on a phone, to shame. But I have an idea next one in will be better.

Always funny how the foxes are positioned in a way that hides the tyre marks well done mark

Thanks for the kind words gents but I am no photographer , I only have a Sony Cybershot but it takes nice pics. I have thousands of pics at home and always try to make them a bit different as otherwise they would be boring to look at ..

WelshMike
Headed out to one of my mates to drop off his X Mas present and have a brew. Despite it being somewhat damp I took the rifle in case the rain cleared. Had a brew and chat and by the time I left the rain had stopped so I headed off with the rifle to see what was about. I have a favorite spot which gives a good view and good backdrop so I headed there. As I went through the gate to the field there was a strong smell of fox so I thought I may well find the owner in the field. Set the caller up and put the vixen call on to be met by a tell tail eye shine. Over to the NV to see what the fox was up to, not enough. Changed to my uploaded gekkering call and that got the fox moving across the field towards me. By the time I was set up for the shot the fox was at about 70 yards. 58 grain .243 round to the chest and that was that. Nice dog fox but he was a stinky critter. Nice and easy and keeps my mate (and his ducks and chickens) happy.

Dougy
Blast it is forgot to set up the studio for the fox I shot last night. Bloody gutted. Called the keeper who had seen it at the top of this Hill, a bloomin hard walk to the top. (So I drove up) lol Got to the top and this decent size dog trotting off far away across the valley through the thermal. I told myself "if I had of walked Ito would have been miles away" I stopped for a moment and sat, just long enough to get the rifle out on top of the pick up switch the Archer and IR on cross hair on the fox, send the nosler and thud. 250yds. Bit long for night vision but i don't like to hang about, some of these are rather smart, call them and they bolt.

You raised our levels of expectation only to let us down at the last minute I was out a couple of times in the last week. Trip 1- 40 minute drive to be met with thick fog so off home, trip 2 - dropped some x mas gifts off with one of the farmers then headed out. Got soaked and the fog came in again so another wasted trip. Headed out last night. Farm 1 drew a blank, as did farm 2 where I got a bit of a soaking. Farm 3 showed more promise as when I arrived I could hear a dog fox calling. Set up the caller but no luck so decided to move. Set the vixen call off and had 2 different dogs call back but neither seemed to want to come in. I then spotted one in the next field having a nap so closed the distance before he decided to make a move at which point the rifle was on the sticks and he was met with a 58 grain .243 round at about 90 yards. Same as usual from me...boring Yawn pic but tough.......I am not airy fairy or artistic
grasshopper
Finished work on Tuesday at 1-55pm for 2 weeks ,23mile drive home, shower, rifle and gear loaded,8mile drive to the farm where a Vixen had been heard calling the previous 2 evenings and got set up.Caller about 80yds away me sitting in the Jimny waiting for it to get dark Scanned the hill with thermal...few rabbits out, gave it couple of minutes, look again to see a large white shape.Nv on,rifle into chest as it was a rather steep hill and i had to lounge down on the seat.Xhairs fixed, fire, hear a nice thump and watch her drop...this was 4-20pm.She was staring intently at the caller below which i hadn't even switched on yet...holidays are well and truly started now Next stand nothing so moved onto a 3rd area.Lot of Hares here so tried Lil Jack for 20mins,nothing so Dog Fox Mating Call is selected.Within 5mins i have a Fox coming down the hill through the next field.Gave it a minute to get closer.By the time I'd picked it back up in the Nv she was 80yds past the caller but standing broadside..very considerate and duly despatched Pictures taken on my phone even though i had my camera with me...yep i'm not like little stumpy Warhol

oowee
At least you guys have some to take a picture off (even without the studio posing) Out last night on first farm, despite farmer claims of an infestation, foxes must have been out on their christmas party. Zilch so off to farm 2. Parked up and walked up the track and drew one down from the hill within 10 mins. Stopped it at about 40 yds to find that someone had not chambered a round . Fox dipped into the hedge doing a ninja move to dodge the BB's sent in his direction. Back to the farm we started on and one fox was back but refused to co-operate and come out of the orchard into the field we were in. Tried to get into a shootable spot but fox dodged around the trees easily in shotgun range which was back in the truck ( ). Staying out of range but watching us from in the trees we climbed into the orchard. It was still in play. try as we might we could not get it in or get a safe shot of at it and it played with us for maybe 20 mins around the trees before disappearing. Merry Christmas to you all.
