JDog
It has been very wet and miserable here as it has been elsewhere. Naturally when I am incarcerated my mind turns to pigeons, what else? Looking around whilst on the pretext of 'taking the dogs out Darling' I must confess I have found a few, indeed quite a lot of pigeons and a great flight line into a field of peas. On Friday I hope to return the many favours which Mightymariner has bestowed on me by inviting him to shoot the field with me. A report, good or bad, will follow. Numerically the second largest lot of pigeons I have seen have been feeding in the field pictured. The picture was taken from my bedroom. The field was sown with rape last September and the whole of the bottom half failed. Sadly the farm manager did not take my advice to resow with spring rape and instead he sowed it with mustard. About 200 pigeons are using the field every day and they are feeding on the tiny bit of backward rape and not on the yellowing mustard. The problem is, as most will see, is that there is a footpath right through the field rendering shooting impossible.
fenboy
I would personally shoot the rape if the footpath was not very busy. Good luck on your peas , I have had a look at mine today and still no pigeons though one did have quite a few crows on which I may have a go at in the next couple of days. Dbw1shrops
Is it not worth putting a shooting in progress sign up ? Or is that a big no no ?
blade
I'm with you fenboy I would set up on the tall hedge 50 yds up from footpath. As long as your not shooting towards footpath can't see a problem
