andrewluke Posted June 17, 2016 Report Share Posted June 17, 2016 i sent mine renewal forms in 4 months before renewal date,2 days before renewal date i had a letter from firearms dept asking for me to get a doctors letter,3 months later(yesterday) i received my tickets so 7 months in total. There is nothing in law which says they MUST send you a reminder. Most police websites say that they USUALLY send out reminders. But they are under no obligation to do so. And, as I said, they are under no obligation to send you (or him, or anyone else) a reminder. If forms go in 4-5 months in advance of expiry, then you have complied - more than complied - with your obligations, and given them a reasonable amount of time to do the renewal. If, for example, the reminder only arrived 5 weeks before expiry, they would be under no obligation to issue a S.7 if there was a delay.
