kippylawkid
I'd been watching a pea field gradually build up and planned to shoot it at the weekend. Unfortunately the farmer saw them too and decided to flag it off without ringing me. Nevertheless, the birds still came to the field and I decided to shoot. The field is very nearly on the beach and has a large camp site close by. I took down a good few flags and set up on the obvious line in. As a result of the camp site activity, the pigeons had become used to humans wandering around and were laughably easy to decoy. I had 2 land 10 yards from me while putting dead birds on cradles. I started with 16 shell decoys and tried out my new FF5 for the first time. I was impressed and can recommend it. I shot steadily from 3 to 6pm and picked 38. To finish off a very pleasant afternoon My better half brought my 12 month pup Stan out for the pick up and I let him complete a few easy retrieves which he did with great gusto. The field will hopefully shoot again.

kippylawkid
Yes, one side of the field is very poor and the decoys stuck out like sore thumbs, so no lost birds. The other side is very lush and is up to 2ft high.

JDog
Was a shirt sleeve day JD. I actually took time out to have a very pleaseant ice cream from van ongoing the camp site! One of the rare days when Northumberland gets above 10 degrees. The first summer I lived in your beautiful county I woke up to a cloudless sky one June morning. I jumped into shorts and a T shirt and went outside when I thought I had been shot. Despite the sun the temperature was eight degrees.
