wymberley
Just put the TV on to watch the teletext news and there was mine host from the Topic programme sitting on a stool playing with two antique pigeon decoys. I missed the start and have no idea of their age. They were 'shell' decoys, possibly carved from wood or molded from some unknown material and certainly looked the business. The peg was a flat steel bar with a small cross shaft at the top on which the decoy sat in an appropriate recess. The balance was perfect and they gently - I suspect that there was some weight to them - 'pecked' in the breeze. There was also a caller which I also suspect that matey had been practising with as that was also right on the button. Just goes to show that there's nothing new under the sun. 7daysinaweek
hi wymberley i also turned over at the exact same time seeing Tim Wanacot huffing and puffing into the call. the deeks looked as if they could have been made in the late forties to fifties and as you say they were certainly well balanced and looked like a quality, handmade item. he said they were priced at around £40 for the pair, would be a wonderful thing to try out something like that. atb 7diaw
wymberley
Yep,but I fear £240 for a dozen is too rich for me.

oldfeller
At least Tim whatsisface seemed to know what he talking about... good on him. British television seems a bit precious about the countryside. must not upset the tv watchers but at least he said what they are used for and wasn t as wishywashy as countryfile. Does Adam have no problems with crows or woodies ?
db135
I've always hoped to see a bit pest control on Adams farm but I suppose they'd be inundated with complaints 😮
