saddler
The Policing & Crime Bill that was introduced in February is on its third reading. The proposal within this Bill is for the HO club fee to be as above. Maybe THIS is how the UK government takes the next step in massively reducing firearms ownership? robbiep
Got a link to this figure, or the relevant part of the Bill ?
Stonepark
The bill allows for full cost recovery but where does £123k come in? Ok, that is estimated cost. I can see current fee is £84 set in the 90's but estimated replacment fee is £170. Is this the end of the world? Savhmr
They'd never charge any amount that could be legally challenged as unreasonable for obvious reasons. £170 per year is peanuts for most club memberships that run with an excess (most of the one's I know do anyway) and is entirely fair given the administration effort in assessing a club's suitability to operate. The Mighty Prawn
I've tried to find the relevant part but cannot, can anyone link us up?
fortune
Blimey! I don't know what if anything plod does for my club for any increase at all. I reckon that my cert took more work time to process than the clubs did and the club had about eight ñmonths wait to get a renewal. So as far as I can see the club didn't get any sort of preferential treatment. The club couldn't even buy any ammunition for its members. Plod just said that the members would have to buy their own ammunition which most cert holders do. But this didn't consider non cert holders and juniors. Some members buy their ammunition from the club to help with the clubs funds.
