shootgun
I was bored out of my mind yesterday morning, and as the other half fancied shopping, i took advantage and went to check if the rut is on on my patch. I was on the ground at about 11:30 am and in within 30 minutes i called the first buck with a Hubertus roe call. He came running through the cover and stopped broadside at about 40 yards in front of me. Pulled the trigger, reacted to the shot and started running in the bush. Found the strike site and a thick blood trail led me to it, at about 50 yards in a valley. Changed position and start calling again on the edge of a clear fell , and 20 minutes later another buck made an appearance. Waited for him to stop and sent a 130 grains Barnes TSX to it's chest, and down he went without a twich, at about 80 yards. Looking forward to the weekend! Guttersnipe
Good job SG and perfect beasts to remove before the rut reaches it's peak - excellent eating, just in time for BBQ season.... I'm out after work with the Buttalo Edited July 27, 2016 by Guttersnipe

iano
Is there a reason you don't shoot with a mod?
shootgun
Is there a reason you don't shoot with a mod? Yes, i don't like it. It adds weight and lenght to the rifle, which is perfectly ballanced without a mod, and it's spoils the rifle look

WelshMike
Thanks mate! I hope you're keeping well! Yes mate I am well thanks, though early mornings on the crows and late nights on the foxes are taking there toll at the moment. Need some beauty sleep though may be a bit late for that Hoping to take a trip down to the South West to get after some stags or bucks (Sika and Fallow) in the next couple of months. Unfortunately deer are somewhat lacking in this neck of the woods. Keep up the fine work and look after yourself.

I guess 8 is my lucky number... I do not wear ear protection whilst stalking, only when out pigeon shooting, and perhaps i should, but after 11 years in the Armed Forces my ears are buzzing like hell anyway, lol. They might only get worse!! I took out the caller and binos only last night..... I called in the best Roe buck I ever saw but it was not land I could shoot on......I just wanted to know what would emerge from the woods with the Buttalo. Next, I tried the buttalo on some Munties I saw but they ran away although it was not helped by some local teenager muppets who thought tooting their saxo horn would help me.
