welshwarrior
I'm looking to get a new trailer and the Paxton 6x4 country man seems to fit the bill. Has anyone got any experience of them?

johnphilip
Ok Daf what do you want in a trailer , what weight will you be pulling . What made you choose that one ,what is your budget , people who make trailers only make the frame and bed for the trailer , the other bits they buy in , axle or indespention units . Braked if over 750 kg total toeing weight , lights , jockeywheel trailer hitch is it pressed steel or cast , cast will last longer . After they have made it a lot of the cost is the galvaniesing . Why not look for a good secondhand one , but it would need checking over as there maybe be costs in getting it right, the most important bit, does it have a spare wheel ,dont go anywere with out one . welshwarrior
It will do 2 jobs family camping holidays tent bikes etc etc then for my clay traps to move to areas/shoots. Paxton seem good value and fitted what I wanted size strong cage sides and opens both ends.
johnphilip
The only problem with say a four foot wide trailer ,they are a sod t o reverse you can not see them behind the car , a wider one is a bit better , hey but your young and big enough to man handle it Daff .if it looks right for you go for . Plus if you keep it nice as i am sure you would , if you deside to sell you wont loose much on it . Good luck. Oh spare wheel is a must . welshwarrior
Never had a problem reversing a 4" as mine have been quite high also have a rear camera for the huntsmen etc that are really narrow.

billytheghillie
sorry no, just what I read on there web site. I was looking for a 8x4 trailer, considered a ifor Williams, but when you mentioned Paxton I had a look. they have a good spec and also cheaper.was just interested in your opinion of them. welshwarrior
I've been told the suspension is as good or better than Ifor, but the bearings are not as good in the hubs but easily replaced with British made when worn out. However the rest is comparable and nicely a bit cheaper.
billytheghillie
come on then, how was it?
welshwarrior
Picked it up today looks really well bulit and sturdy. Tows well and appears to do what it says. Only annoying thing is the way the lights are wired give me a bulb warning on my dash board.

scotslad
Just watch ur wiring looms if using it off road, easy to hank a cable going over peaks and troughs the waythe trailer follows u.
welshwarrior
Yep my main off road trailer an Ifor that's got traps mounted on it has the wiring down the side. Most of the Paxton is well protected and goes inside the frame
keg
If you have a light coming on, could be an earth issue somewhere.
Medic1281
Are they led lights? Sometimes they don't have enough resistance so the on board computer thinks they are not working.
