Lucky Sniper
Hi everyone. Looking at buying more flocked shell decoys but I am also thinking of getting half a dozed flocked full bodied one's too to mix it up a bit. What's your thoughts on mixing full bodied with shell decoys or should I just stick to shells? Also should FUDS be mixed with flocked decoys, I have been told "No" as they look totally different? Penelope
My 'squad' will be a mix of HH's, flocked shells, Flexicoys and dead birds. Don't listen to those who say that mixing decoys is wrong.
Cranfield
When using artificial decoys I mainly use shells, but I have some full bodied for sticking in hedges, or lofting. I will mix dead birds and shells, until I have enough dead birds to bring the shells in. I can't comment on mixing different artificial decoy types, as I only have one sort. Outlander
I use a few different types initially on a session, taking the plastics in as and when or if the bag builds to just leave dead birds out.
Robwalker
Yeah mixing is fine its all to do with you pattern and field craft at the end of the day. I shot 106 on friday and 96 on sat (5 hour afternoons both ) i had hypa-flaps on the rotary, sillosocks out in the field along with shells and odd full body, like everyone says i tend to bring the decoys in when the deads keep coming as nothing beats the real thing and when on stubble it is so easy to just open their mouths and force it onto the stubble so they look like their feeding But personally i wouldnt say you need full bodies unless lofting etc just to bulky to carry over shells that work just the same Edited August 16, 2016 by Robwalker@UKShootwarehouse

evo
if its a pigeon decoy then stick it out, it makes no difference at all what they are as long as it drags the pigeons in, use what you have and get yourself a flapper, works wonders at dragging them in from afar by the time the pigeon notices they are fake it normally loses a lot of feathers and its light go out,
