Mungler
Okay, diaries out for a date and let the discussion commence for a venue. I am mindful that the next one should be near to one of our further travelling friends - in particular Mr. Tosspot who slogs it half way round the M25 each time to shoot in God's own County (Essex). We should make a special trip to somewhere nearer to Tosspot and aim to at least meet up in his County and if that has no decent shooting grounds then lets aim for a neighbouring County, but hey, I can see that this will end up with us all meeting again in "the chosen County" (Essex) but if that is to be then so be it - lets at least go through the motions and pretend to make it look as though we are being fair about this.... Can we make sure that the next proposed meet up is not on my wife's birthday (19th May) Not that worried about other members of the family (mum, dad, kids etc). They don't frighten me as much. Any date 9th June onwards works for me. Also are we doing a day over the weekend or do we want to meet up for another "Essex Masters-esque" type serious shoot - I would be up for that but recognise it will probably be mid week. TP are there any proper shoots lined up in your neck of the woods?
MC
OK I am in, I cannot do this weekend or the following (bank holiday weekend). I have free at the moment 2-3rd june 9th june, The Colchester Gun club have an 80bird open (Sporting) on saturday 16th june. I would prefer weekends but would do a mid week if that is all that is available

Mungler
Okay the starting bid is: Colchester 16th June for 80 bird ESP. That suits me - it's up the A12 and I haven't shot there before. However, we should wait to hear from the boy Tosspot. Any advances....
Stealth Stalker
Count me in if my chauffeur is up for it as well The weekend of June 22nd is out for me, any other time as John Inman said " I'm Free" SS(Herts)

MC
The Colchester Gun Club Shoot is an all day event with food so we could always do two rounds and there is a half decent pub about 1/2mile away

Catamong
By my reckoning Colchester must be only about a 240 mile round trip for TP, so if the strategy is to get him to turn up completely knackered through so much driving, and then shoot a bum score, looks like you're onto a winner..?? I thought TP might be thinking of shooting the South East Regional Champs and England Team Selection shoot being held on 16th & 17th June at Southdown, it's a 100 birder over 14 stands, usual tough Southdown style layout. with plenty of long birds. I'll be there on whichever day the weather looks like being the most favourable, so I'll probably have to dip out on the Colchester bash, sorry guys, I'm sure you'll all be gutted by that..?? . pin
That's why its like this. I think I might as well pay my bleeding salary direct to bloody Mothercare et al
Suffolk shooter
I know the feeling Pin, I phoned HM Customs & Revenue to ask why my tax code hadn't been changed as I have changed jobs and circumstances have changed to be told that I was under investigation for unpaid tax Oh well, Didn't do Lester Piggot any harm did it SS
pin
Heh, that happened to me, I was crapping myself but sounds worse than it is. I think I repaid them the £90 I owed with a slight tax code adjustment. They wouldn't tell me how much, only that I was being investigated. Suffolk shooter
Hmmmmm, I wish it was, the women i spoke to yesterday said that it was in the £3k region they were invesitgating. MC will back me up on this, the company i have just left have an absolutley useless accountant woman, who is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Any way enough of me de-railing this thread. If I haven't been banged up by then, i might make it. SS
Mungler
When they say they are investigating you it probably just means that they have pulled your file and return from out of the automated conveyor belt of returns and are actually using human eyes to look at your forms. Then again, I am reminded of that old Lester Piggot joke: What is 6' 4" weighs 280 lbs and has ridden a grand national winner? Answer: Lester Piggot's cell mate. MC
**** I bet that has made SS feel a whole lot better, He is right though I underpaid tax every year I was employed by the same company that SS has just left. And I was salaried pay as you earn, the same every month. How can you cock that up? Chocolate fireguard is a little unfair though, ashtray on a motorbike is more like it

Mungler
I think we owe it to Mr. Pot to make the journey. I will be driving if any of the A12 boys need a lift and want to arrive in style. Cat, is the Southdown thing something we need to book / register for.
MC
Not being a CPSA member there is little point me shooting that one Mungler. I will be shooting colchester on the 16th and catch up ith you all some other time.
BTMS
Tax inspectors Helped them out in my last job then they sent me a bill for over £1700. Then I quieried it ,was reduced by a LARGE amount. Next shoot should be skeet, if not sporting LH
Wookie
So hang on... This Colchester thing requires us to be CPSA members? That's a ******. Sporting would be a laugh, but SimonP will testify that I'm not as good as any of the other East Anglian lot.
Catamong
Wookie, Don't panic matey.. I don't think you need to be a CPSA member to shoot at Colchester, like most gun clubs, they're happy to take your money.. It's a different story at Southdown, yes, if you want to shoot the South East Regional Championship and beat Faulds and Digweed at their home ground, then yes, you have to be a member, or at the very least, become a "day member". You don't have to book in, just turn up and pay your money, I can guarantee a good quality shoot, I reckon TP should be on for about an 85, Mungler could do the high 70's, Suffolk Shooter, perhaps a 39..??, only joking matey..!! :o And as for Pin, well, the sky's the limit, I'd love to see him in a head to head shoot off with big George, having both shot 96's..?? :yp: Cat.
