Markio
Well i'm at Parkford every other week if any one fancies a few rounds of skeet. My next trip up will probably be 2nd June. Obviously if an alternative venue is setup in the time being then i'm up for it.
Rascal
Cheers cat/damn you you cat (delete as appropriate) that'll teach me to check ahead as i'm shooting on the Sunday at Parham the S.Down thingy will be the Sat 16th for me i'm afraid, bit of a no brainer really 240 miles or 20 you guys enjoy yourselves and i'll catch you all soon cheers TP Hey TP I guess your talking about the the Sussex Game fair at Parham, can anyone enter or do you have to have a CPSA classification? Do you know how many birds it is?
Evil Elvis
Im confused, so where exactly are we going?
Markio
As a side note there is a small annual 'open' clay shoot at a farm just outside Brantham (nr manningtree) this Sunday (20th). I believe it is a 50 bird shoot but not sure of cost. I know someone who has attended and i'm told it's quite reasonable. It's on the back road between Manningtree and Ipswich (It runs parallel with the A12). I'm going anyway so if anyone fancies it then let me know. Mungler
Okay the current proposition would appear to be Southdown on the 16th June. There is mention of a local game fair shoot and it could be we could make a whole day of it. Given the mileage put in by Mr. Pot I think it is the least we can do - and cough for a CPSA day pass (you tightwads).
pin
I'll detox and sell one of me kidneys, that should square me off with about £60 to make it down
MC
Can we not do Southdown on the 17th june? That way we could do Colchester as a warm up on the 16th
tosspot
Guys The Sussex Country Fair at Parham is over the 16th & 17th comprises the Mitsubishi qualifier, if memory serves me well 40 birds re-entry, and no you do not need to be CPSA registered, plus in the past there has been a pool shoot, Eurotrap and clay snooker that will probably be in attendance this year my only gripe is that you used to be able to just go and do the clays but now you have to pay to get into the whole shebang £10, and then get to shoot the Southdown South East Champs is also over the 16th & 17th which you would need to be a CPSA member, there will also be a pool shoot, skeet, compact, DTL and maybe a FITASC layout both of these venues are 10 mins away from each other and are potentially do-able in the same day i am easy (steady) about when for either shoot, so if any of yous guys fancy it great so how about this Southdown on Sun the 17th (CPSA passes required) if anyone wants to do the Sussex Fair also just give us a shout
Mungler
That sound like a good shooting fest. Colchester on the 16th and Southdown on the 17th. I'm game and up for it. I would also be available and willing to attend the Colchester shoot on 16th June and the Southdown shoot on the 17th June. Mungler taxis will be in operation for anyone who wants a lift on Saturday [J28 M25 and then up the A12], and Sunday [J28 M25 down to the bottom of the M23]. MC
Can I get a day CPSA pass for the 17th? I really do not want to join another shooting association especially to do one shoot. The nearest place that I recomend to meet is the Langenhoe Lion Pub which is on the B1025 between Colchester and mersea. I will sort out directions maps and a post code and post the lot shortly. Dunkield
How did this end up? I might go to the Gamefair on the Saturday or Sunday (waiting on others to decide at the moment)
MC
It seemed to die a slow painful death, I cannot do Colchester on the 16th as I am shooting my new rifle at Bisley, but am well up for the 17th at southdown assuming I can get a day pass.
Dunkield
OK I still need to hook up Mungler at some point and it would make sense to kill 2 birds with one stone, the big shoot sounds a bit full on for me, but I quite like the idea of the game fair if people are going to drift over there after the shoot. I have already mad a comittment to go a see a hillclimb on the Sunday so it will need a bit massaging to fit it all in . . I also thought as it was near Brighton, some of the boys down there might want to come out (of the closet) Might do a seperate thread . . . Catamong
I will be at Southdown on Sunday 17th, weather permitting. If the forecast is much better for the Saturday I will do it then, as I need a decent score from this one if I've any chance of making the team this year. It will be a good shoot, the course will be very different to the Essex Masters, as the terrain is generally open chalky downland. Those who have not shot Southdown before will be in for a treat..!! starlight32
Wookie, Don't panic matey.. I don't think you need to be a CPSA member to shoot at Colchester, like most gun clubs, they're happy to take your money.. It's a different story at Southdown, yes, if you want to shoot the South East Regional Championship and beat Faulds and Digweed at their home ground, then yes, you have to be a member, or at the very least, become a "day member". You don't have to book in, just turn up and pay your money, I can guarantee a good quality shoot, I reckon TP should be on for about an 85, Mungler could do the high 70's, Suffolk Shooter, perhaps a 39..??, only joking matey..!!  And as for Pin, well, the sky's the limit, I'd love to see him in a head to head shoot off with big George, having both shot 96's..?? :yp: :yp: Cat. Would you let me give odds on those scores? Ii might be worth running a book..................

Hate to disappoint you Cat but I won't be shooting Southdown for financial reasons. But even if I did I reckon I would still hit 50% plus. I've only shot Colchester Garrison once and came away with a rather creditable score beating MC by one (It's the only bragging rights I have over him so it gets dragged up regularly). To be honest after Essex Masters, I decided that if I had come across any of those birds out in the field for real I wouldn't have even brought the gun up, so I'm not worried. Catamong
The best route from the Essex direction is M25 / M23 / A23 / then A272 / A24. I'm probably doing it on the Sunday, shooting first thing in the morning, I've been picked to shoot in the Herts team so I'll be trying extra hard. Not sure if Jonsey will be there, but if she does turn up, I reckon she'll show most of the guys how to do it..!! Cat.
