elegia
Hi all, although you're probably all bored of this question....mine is about the brand new ones. After being a Landy owner for years: series, defender and a brief foray with a disco. I'm about to get rid of my TDCI 90. I'm a bit sick of trips to the garage, and so thought I might bite the bullet and buy new. I've had a test drive of the L200 which I quite liked - the dealer however was rubbish and knew nothing about the vehicle or it's drive train. Tried am Isuzu D-max...mmmm think I preferred the 200, at least ON the road. Off to try a Ranger tomorrow.......(gotta say though the TDCI engine puts me off a bit, the Landy one has been a heart ache) .........so does anyone have a current model, they could comment on? ( if you've a 200, what model ?as, far as I can see the 4 life has a locking rear diff, the others a centre....asked the dealer lots of questions about this, he clearly didn't understand how a diff worked. How are they off road?) Cheers

al4x
A friend bought a new shape l200 pretty much as soon as it came out. Loves it no problems and one service in 15k is all its needed. They are a step up refinement wise and economy, his auto is knocking on the door of 40mpg. The only issue is discounts aren't great as they are very popular and new model Edited September 13, 2016 by al4x
elegia
Just had a wee test drive of the Ranger this morning -- pretty impressed so far. Cash wise it's a wee bit more than the L200, BUT the Ford finance is 0% at the moment making it actually more affordable..................oh decisions decisions!!! OddJob
Test drove both, Ranger felt so less refinded in all ways. Also standard kit was nothing compared to a warrior. Bought an L200 and love it. You're buying the vehicle, not the dealer.
bluesj
From a land rover fun (now drive a L200), I think you would be happy with ether of them I like the look of the new ranger more that the l200. as for the engine in the ranger if its any thing like the ones in the transits at work it should lug the ranger around very nicely
Harnser
I have a 15 plate warrior which is an excellent truck . I have had most of the jap and American trucks and the warrior is proberbly the best off roader of them all . It's certainly as good off road as the three land rovers that I have had . The l200 has plenty of power ,although it is a bit noisy in the lower gears . It will cruise at motorway speeds all day long with no trouble at all . It's not as well finished as my last truck ,which was a navara teckna pick up . The navara had more toys than the l200 and was much quieter to drive in ,but did cost more money . I think the l200 is a little bit on the ugly side . But with the diff locks and traction control it is a very capable off roader also it can be run in 4 wheel drive on the road . jay404
Got my l200 series 5 barbarian about a month ago seem great so far. Lovely in side comfortable etc. Has electronic 4wd select up to 61 mph then has 4wd high and low with locked diff aswell. I seem to be averaging 35mpg aswell so that's a bonus. The interior of the l200 is far superior to most of the others in the class I think
