There are some miserable **** on this forum.

Seadog took his day and enjoyed it in the company of his friends. End of.

Quite how much it cost is irrelevant. If he or any other chaps with few opportunities want to take a day like this then good for them.

That was a very good write up Silver Pigeon. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.

We really should get together and wet our lines down at Fairlight Cove, now that there is little chance of catching some oddball's maggot on your tackle.

Yes we should, although luckily i am busy most Saturdays until Feb!

:good:

Good questions.

I have a nice O/U and a synthetic Semi auto. I would like to take a mate with me who doesn't have SGC. And tbh I have never paid for shooting and would love to give one of these days a go!

It says on the website and in the briefing sheet that you must have SGC and insurance (although we have never been asked to show them!)

Your paying so I don't see any reason why not. After all this isn't Sandringham. All of this nonsense about what gun you use goes way back to when 5 shots were the norm and it was considered unsporting to have that many shots at one bird or if you had a line of autos then it would be like a solid wall of shot.A gangster's gun. It wasn't all that many years ago that the over and under Was frowned upon. Only God knows the reason behind that one. Remember you have four birds so you want to be a bit selective.

What happens if you shoot more than the four? Do they just charge more or do they say"only pigeon and rabbit until the duck flight"?

They work on a trust system, that you only shoot four and are honest, even if you wing one and dont find it! One of our group had his 4 by about 2pm so carried on but only on the pigeon and rabbit and then the duck flight.

Good questions.

Its what makes this forum. An interesting thread with a great right up of a day from S Pigeon, and all sorts of things come out the woodwork

It sounds like a great day to me.

Spotted this thread before I went to Morghew recently and wanted to report back.... I had a cracking day, yes it's potentially expensive compared to some others but where else can you get access to a fully stocked and managed estate and have it to yourselves to work your own dogs across a huge variety of land and species on a pay and go basis? - If someone knows please share with me!

We had Heather (one of the gamekeepers) with us all day (our choice, you can say no, although why you would I don't know) and she basically drove us around the estate to various spots where we'd do a couple of beats and then jump in the jeep and onto the next area, over the course of the day we must have done 8 ish "drives" with everything from pheasant, pigeon, wild duck and partridge appearing - that's before we even get onto the duck flight in the evening

If you want to shoot the most birds you can do for your money then yes a cheap driven day with no overage might be your best bet, if you want to go to a beautiful estate, work your own dogs and have a good walked up day then I'd highly recommend Morghew...

PS - We found a number of duck on the estate but not solely on the reservoir i.e. if you got your bag early then you still had shooting on the ducks...
