grahamch
Does anyone know any shooting grounds in the north east where you can use steel shot? My local grounds have a daft rule that limits one to using a max load of 28g of no6 lead.
Guest stevo
Your find that rule will be place at most grounds if not all registered grounds

buze
Did'nt I read here that quite a few people shooting skeet used steel?
johnphilip
Did'nt I read here that quite a few people shooting skeet used steel? We do from time to time on our local ground and have done at some other grounds when we have been away i holiday, but have asked first if its ok to use steel we can get a slap of 24gram no7 at our local gunroom for about £35. The OP was asking about using bigger loads than is generally allowed. Edited November 3, 2016 by stevo
grahamch
The OP was asking about using bigger loads than is generally allowed. Thanks for the replies, my reason for asking is I want to test some big steel fowling loads on clays before using them on live game as have no shot steel before. My syndicate is fibre only and only allows guns on the farm on shoot days and my other place is foreshore and I cant of course test shells there. Hence am looking for a shooting ground without restriction on what one can use.
shaun4860
Most clay grounds have a 28g max as it can effect shot fallout, Ours is 28g shot size 7 or smaller and fibre wad only, Before we moved grounds we could use steel as you could use plastic wads but still restricted to shot size 7 or smaller and 28g Whereabouts are you Graham? grahamch
the weight of the shot load has no impact on range, although pellet sizes does
figgy
Just set a pattern board up on your permission and pick up the plastic wads.
grahamch
Just set a pattern board up on your permission and pick up the plastic wads. Thats my problem, syndicate members are only allowed on the farm for shoot days so this is not an option. Only the lads who keeper have access on non shoot days.
