Davyo
The big thing a lot of us are missing,a lot of these dealers be it Ford,Jaguar,Audi in fact just about the bloody lot.All franchise out their workshops thats why the prices are diff at say several Ford garages. They are just on the premises and your quality of service is up to the person who touches your car.We paid a ridiculous price for a Jaguar service (Strathstone Jaguar) which inc labour at £126 per hr.The quality of srvice was a discrace, directional tyres put on the wrong way & one of the wheels only had 1 retaining nut. Just because you drive your car into an state of the art service bay dosent mean your going to get top level service.
Vince Green
This is only going to get worse because there is virtually no such thing as a qualified mechanic these days
johnnytheboy
I'd be sticking with the main dealer until after the warranty period!
Davyo
This is only going to get worse because there is virtually no such thing as a qualified mechanic these daysBang on the rely on a diagnostics check and hope pumping in a code to a computer will fix it.If the spanners have to get dirty then that when the trouble starts.Always get worried when theres no old guy in the workshop.Plus the thing with Warranties(manufacture) they will only cover the actual part that causing the issue once the garage have sent photo's via email ect to who ever before approval is given.Had a new car once (Vauxhall Astra) where a wheel bearing started making a grinding noise at onle 2k mls. They only changed the one effected 3 weeks later the other side failed.I did ask,was it not logical to change both at the same time. The answer was yes but i would have been expected to pay for that side as at that point it had not failed. Another thing thats quite worrying now is the likes of Bristol Street,Evanshalshaw,Arnold Clarke ect are using call centres to take swrvice enquiries. When i books my wifes car into Bristol Street ford i got re directed to a contact centre, even though id rang the Durham garage.Booked the service but needed to make them aware that the car was moutune modified so id need the right filteres ect.Droppwd the car off for service some weeks later to find out the service lady was expecting it to be standard service Car had to be rebooked in. Fisheruk
Well my D-max went in for its 60000 service. Actual speedo was 59460. I mentioned that there was a vibration at the front under heavy braking. Not that I am a had driver, but occasionally someone will pull out in front of you. The main dealer said there had been an issue with the disc pads where the original compound was to hard and could distort the discs. These were the original discs and pads and the original tyres. Bottom line, the discs and pads both needed changing. They said they would put in a warranty claim. Well 24 hours later and they called me to say Isuzu had accepted the discs as a warranty item and my account would be credited the full cost. Interestingly if the mileage was over 60000 they would not have accepted the claim. Still can't fault the D-Max.

To my mind if you are still on the originals, then it doesnt matter how many miles you had done if the equipment was faulty, there should have been a recall to be honest. Still trying to get my head round the fact ,that at 60000 miles and presumeably ,multiple services,no one said mmm those disc pads are low, need changing
