steve_b_wales
I bought the above torch from Andy at Ludicrous Lumens. It's an excellent torch, apart from when you change the beam from flood to narrow. In between the two modes, the torch head feels loose and can be moved from side to side. I've put some PTFE tape around the thread, but still no good. Is there anything else that can be done to eliminate the problem?

Dave-G
Some larger O-Rings can be used - but they sort of settle down to almost seize up the zoom unless its given a rather manly twist.

oldypigeonpopper
hello steve, i just looked at my new TR38 and its much the same, if you un screw the battery tube there should be 2 x 0 rings just behind thread, i only use mine on the smallest beam ie red pil which is max tight but i think what colin mentioned would help if you want a larger beam, i use black sparky tape from the pound shop for such as this. steve_b_wales
I added some more PTFE tape, and it seems to have stopped the slackness, for now anyway. I'll get some 'O' rings and fit them, which should be better than the tape. I contacted Andy from Ludicrous Lumens regarding this issue, and he said. 'It's the nature of the Beast', and that he added insulation tape to the one/s he uses.
Dave-G
Nature of the beast indeed. To be fair - they're hand held torches that don't need an aiming precision that coincides with the aim of the device we fit them to.

It was just annoying that when I wanted to put the beam on half flood, it didn't line up with the reticle on my 750a. I had to hold it to keep it in place. Hopefully, the PTFE tape will work for a while. I've just ordered some O rings. Thanks for the link.
weejase
Can`t you just return it? surely if they know about the fault it should be rectified before being sold.
colin lad
Can`t you just return it? surely if they know about the fault it should be rectified before being sold. as Dave says they are sold as hand held torch's so it's not a fault it only becomes a fault when we try to mount them and use them precise aiming devices colin Edited November 15, 2016 by colin lad
weejase
They are sold as a gun light and the makers knew that the bulk of them would be mounted. They also have an adjustable beam and that is where the fault is whether it is mounted or not. It was obvious to LL that the head was going to be loose when adjusted as he even had to use tape on his to resolve the issue It doesn`t say anything in the add on the site that there could be an issue with this part. walshie
Here ya go Steve: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141454988375 19mm x 2mm cross section. That looks a good idea. How do you get the head off the torch? I assume unscrew it, but does it screw clockwise or anti-clockwise? Mine doesn't seem to want to budge in either direction. Cheers. walshie
Anti clockwise judging by the thread? More force required then.
